Apples to Apples is a great game and loads of fun when you're around people that aren't big gamers. I also like
Tigris and Euphrates,
Puerto Rico. I'm also a fan of
CheapassGames. The idea behind CheapassGames is that everyone has a ton of board game pieces and boardgame money that they never play with or use (see: Monopoly), so the game doesn't include pieces or money that you might have already, thus being extremely cheap.
