Well, if it makes you feel any better, I haven't changed the way I make them for SRD.
I just wanted to mention the reason for the longer shank and tang...to me, it makes honing and stropping easier. No other reason...no "design choice" or anything else so pretentious....just makes honing and stropping easier. Well, that, and you don't see it very much. Glad you like them, and it was a pleasure making them for all of you.
