Thing is with the report button is that it takes time before the mods see it from what I can tell. I report spam every other day, and sometimes one of those pests manages to post another 15-20 times or more before being cancelled. to make 15-20 posts takes 14-19mins +/- since there is a 60sec wait period between posts, now I know 20mins isn't very long, but when you realise that's 20 threads contaminated with how many subscriptions per thread, that people receive emails for. As some have mentioned in the past, they don't like receiving that nonsense in their emails.
My suggestion for the blocking IP addresses was simply coz that's what we would do on another site. I don't/didn't know about this shared IP issue. But whats the harm of banning IP's temporarily until a better solution is found? You can unblock/unban blocked IP's so its not like its a permanent measure.
I'm simply trying to offer a simple solution, even if it only serves as a tmporary measure until something better is implemented.
