The scale has some kind of file marks around the pivot pin. (See photo.)

I originally bought this razor because the Standard Guide to Razors, Third Edition (p. 50) pictures it with the caption: Genuine tortoise shell. However, I do not believe it is genuine tortoise shell. It is celluloid. Beautiful, but celluloid nonetheless.

(NOTE: This razor is ready for honing.)
