Obie,

I have only recently worked up the courage to shave with a straight razor. But I do so because of the history, craftsmanship, and, I believe, art involved in doing so. Anyone can drag an amalgamation of plastic and steel across their face, but only a true artist can craft and/or use a razor sharp blade.

Concerning Straight Razors: An old fashioned form of morning torture for our ancestors. These didn’t have little blades that popped out, and nothing plugged in and turned on. The blade itself was sharpened with a gizmo called a strop, made of leather. Not a useful item today.
