Default Ogallala Bay Rum Aftershave and skin toner...

Just got a sample bottle from the South East get together (thanks Doc!) and I have to say it may convert me from a dedicated Balm user to a splash guy! The Ogallala starts off with top notes of clove and butter scotch, and degrades into a vanilla base. Wonderfully warm and it leaves my skin feeling taught and conditioned without being too dry. I highly recommend this one to anyone who likes the smell of cloves as that note seems to push through to the end with some strength. Two of these:

Ah crud, will a mod please move this to the appropriate section?

I have a bottle of this stuff which I've been slowly going through for the past year or so. I'm not sure I would call it bay rum but it is very different and very nice. Its mostly witchazel and is very easy on the face after a shave. The scent is subtle but remains for a long time. I'm not sure how I would characterize the scent, to me its kind of like an old barbershop scent. I would recommend it.

It is suspected the razor is haunted.

I think they've changed the formula on the bay rum, maybe around february or so. I prefer the old version, which is very clovey. The newer version is much "spicier" - I like it ok but my wife hates it, whereas she likes the old one. So if you've been nursing one for a year it's probably the old one.

Their shaving soap has also been reformulated and is very nice too by the way. And their customer service is very generaous and friendly.

I call it the old west style of Bay Rum myself and I do believe John the guy that makes it does too,,, + 1 on the witch hazel feel on the face...
See I brought home the Ogallala Bay Rum / Sandalwood from the "NC Meet" which I wasn't sure of until this morning, I like it and the wife loves it so I guess now I have 2 scents from Ogallala....

I also have to + 1 on the new formula shave soap it is way nicer than his first one...

I have to recommend this stuff too. It's very nice smelling and it is great on my skin. I'm with thebigspendur in that it's not really a bay rum in the traditional sense since it's got very little alcohol in it - so little in fact that the bay oils will not become soluable in it. But neverthe less the end result is the same - good for the skin and good smelling to boot. It's great for the office too as it's subtle.

Regards,
EL

One of these days in your travels, a guy is going to show you a brand-new deck of cards on which the seal is not yet broken. Then this guy is going to offer to bet you that he can make the jack of spades jump out of this brand-new deck of cards and squirt cider in your ear. But, son, do not accept this bet, because as sure as you stand there, you're going to wind up with an ear full of cider.
