Default pre shave balm

i currently use AOS pre shave balm. i really like the sandlewood. however as i have been using it with every shave, i am slowly running out. amazing how that works.

what do you all use as a pre shave? i have shaved without it and find i get a much better shave with it. so without is not a choice i will make at this time. just looking for other options.

thanks
vgod

I use either lather or Proraso Pre/Post (I'm betting Noxema will work too) as a prep before shaving. I apply one of them and leave it while I strop. Then I rinse or apply a hot towel over the prep. I rinse again then lather and shave. I've never found a benefit to having something under my lather while actually shaving.
