Default Pinaud Lilac Vegetal Re-visited

This is the time of year when lilacs are in bloom. Last year I put a french hybrid lilac in a container out on my Southern California patio. Right now my lilac plant has several clusters of lavender colored flowers with a heavy lilac fragrance.

I took a cutting into the house for my wife and then decided to compare the scent with my bottle of Pinaud Lilac Vegetal. With all the comparisons to "urinal pucks" and "baby diapers" and such, I thought I'd compare the aftershave to the real thing.

Sure enough, the Pinauds smells pretty much like fresh lilacs. There's a slight "something" different, which isn't too suprising since there is other stuff in the aftershave. But, all-in-all, it's lilacs.

I don't know, maybe there are lilac scented urinal pucks and baby diapers out there.

Well, if you use that stuff you must be a tough guy. That's got to be worst smelling stuff in the world.

It is suspected the razor is haunted.

Yeah, I tried to like it. There's just something "off" for me. If it works for you...go for it, man.

While it IS different, like most fragrences it needs to burn off to get the real scent. I rather like it once in awhile. I must admit it is near the bottom of a growing list.....

I tried that stuff not too long ago--it went on smelling like boiled vegetables (hence its name!) and then gave way to a nice lilac-ish smell. Not bad until ~5 hours in--then it started to smell like play-doh! "Bond, James Bond" it wasn't! I'm sticking with just plain Clubman.

I'm tempted, the next time I order from Classicshaving, to toss a small bottle of this stuff into the order, just so I can say I've tried it.

I haven't tried it, so I can't comment on it personally, but one thing to note is that any cologne or aftershave smells different on different people depending on how it mixes with their natural oils and stuff like that.
So it may be a case where it actually does smell like lilac in the bottle, but for most people when it hits the skin it changes into a less than pleasant odor.
That's just my 2 cent theory though which should be taken with a grain of salt seeing as I've never tried that aftershave.
