Lately I've been using a 50-50 mix of Corn Huskers Lotion and pure Aloe vera gel. I then throw in a dash of glycerin. Apply it as much as you like, 2, 3, 10 times a day, it's all good, and works well on your hands too.
Been working really very nice! It has a nice clean feel to it, not oily at all. It leaves your face wet for a few minutes (from the aloe, I believe) and then dries nicely. So, I suppose if you like a balm that "soaks in" as you apply it, my mix may not be for you.
Another possible drawback is that the Corn Huskers has a very baby powdery smell to it. Not bad, but ceratainly not something that conjures up images of what Chuck Norris or Charles Bronson may wear as a scent.
Previuosly I had used:
King of Shaves aftershave lotion, which was pretty nice, nothing to write home about. Ran out of it, and went on to try something else.
JASON WitchVera, I sort of liked this, but I did not care for the smell, and it did not seem to like to be near alum.
Earth Science after shave lotion, this is a very nice, light AS. Very watery, but soothing and absorbed quickly. This is still in use. I also like the scent. Not really a balm though. I may add some of this to my 50/50 mix for the scent, since the wife likes to give it a sniff as well!
