Default Long lasting Cologne

Wonder if any body has found a Cologne that last more than two hours and whose price does not exceed the National Debt. I have experimented with a lot of Colognes and EDT's . I know that this is a personal thing but thought you guys might have some small insight into this. Just doesn't seem that you can get what you pay for these days. THANKS..........

Very few colognes last for long on me. I think part of it has to do with body chemistry and part of it is has to do with the cologne. From what I've read and experienced, citrus scents don't last very long unless they have other oils to carry them along. Taylors of Old Bond Street Victorian Lime No. 74 does last a good long while on me.

Old Spice and Hoyt's are less expensive scents that last a long time for me. At the higher end, Penhaligon's and Floris scents stay with me for the whole day as well. L'Occitan Vetiver and Guerlain Vetiver both last for a while and are in the middle on price - if you like vetiver.

Good luck!

Look out for Ferrari EDT (black) not the red bottle.

It's £12 over here which equates to around $20 and smells lush.

I normally use Jo Malone, Creed etc but after a recommendation from a VERY hot girl in my old work about this Ferrari. I must say, it's superb and lasts a long time.

Check the Saintcharlesshave.com colognes if you live in the US. They're cheap and will last for ages.

I ordered the 4.2oz FERRARI BLACK / EDT. It sounded too good so I couldn't resist.

First, if you've got dry skin you might benefit from applying some sort of moisturizer before cologne. I think dry skin tends to absorb the fragrance oils, killing the scent. You might also spray on your clothes, if the scent is pale in color. (There's one that is dark purple and supposedly stains clothes like red wine).

That said, I seek out the oldest formulations available. For instance, Chanel Antaeus is my favorite, but I buy old (80's era) bottles from a gent in CA. Every time a scent is re-formulated, it seems to get weakened, so the latest and greatest is not such a bargain IMHO. I'm wearing Antaeus today and can still smell it, 10 hours later. My shirt will still hold the scent tomorrow morning.

Trumper's also makes some powerhouses, and their sample program is reasonable. Estee Lauder also makes some monsters - for instance - Azuree, which carries a punch well above its price. If you've got concerns about walking up to the EL counter and asking for a women's scent, consider that Azuree is the twin of Aramis, and Azuree reminds me a lot of Giorgio Beverly Hills for Men.

Also cheap and interesting:

Diesel Zero plus Masculine.

€15 anywhere over here. Lasts for AGES.

Let me know when you have tried it, what your thoughts are..

I absolutely love the smell and as a matter of fact, it was just complimented upon no more than one hour ago by a girl in my class.

This could be dangerous, I'm married!!!

I'll let you know how I like it when it arrives. It's coming from L.A., so It might take 3 weeks to arrive in my neck of the woods.

The Three Colognes I jump between are Davidoff 'Echos' , Dunhill Desire , Bvlgari Extreme -- been wearing Davidoff Echos almost exclusively for about 6 yrs .. and only recently bought the two others to try ...
Davidoff last anywhere between 8-12hrs
Dunhill again .. 8-12hrs
Bvlgari - about 6-8hrs

My G/f or myself has yet to find a female who doesn't absolutely love the smell of the Davidoff Echo's , so much so my g/f is almost sorry she chose it for me all those years ago ..

fresh smelling ... Garry

D&G Pour Homme lasts a long time on me. So does C&E WI Limes (although the citrus scent fades fairly quickly). Neither costs too much.

SCS New Spice is a great option. I get a lot of compliments from women when I wear it. It's cheap and will last you quite a while.

I got some based on your recommendation. Smelled very different on than in the shop - but I like it, it is very different to my usual Spanish Leather ... I've yet to get the wifes opinion since she has a cold and couldn't smell rotten eggs in a barrel.

Here is what I have been able to learn: there are four types of scents which vary in their strength and do nto necessarily vary in the cost.

After Shaves - tend to have the weakest scent of all of the types and cost (I can get a good bottle for $8)
Colognes - stronger then after shaves and tend to cost the same, some popular brands are Helen of Troy's Brut (I can get one for $8)
Eau De Toilet - stronger than either of the above types and tend to last longer (My price tends to be aroound $50)
Eau De Parfum - Stronger than any of the above, but not made for men at all
Parfume Oil - This is the strongest stuff out there possible (I can get a bottle for $5)

I would recommend that you look for a Parfume oil there the cheapest and strongest, they tend to be at neighborhood parfume stores, I got mine at bath and body works.

I usually wear Pierre Cardin and find that it still smells after a long day at the office. Occasionally I will goto bed and still be able to smell it.

I like it and the wife likes it on me. Thanks for the tip.

The longest lasting cologne scent I know is Joop. Just make sure you like it before you apply it!

Hehe glad you both like it. It's a lovely fragrance and for the price, it simply cannot be beaten. You could pay x3-5 the price and still not have a nicer EDT.

I knew the lady would love it
