Default Hot Weather is here

Have a serious question and would like some comment from you college educated guys.I know you are going to have some fun with this but just the same if you have a little money tied up in after shave, you would like to keep them the best you can. I live in a small house without central air and heat and would like to know where the best place to keep these during warm weather? Could you keep them in the refrigerator? All you chemist people let me know, p[lease. I know I am going to get all the comments about Ferrari mustard,Aqua Velva ketchup and ect. Thanks.

If kept in a sealed container, I would thing you don't have to worry about it. I was told by a guy in fancy cologne store to keep them out of sunlight...

I would think a sealed container will stop any evaporation if its an alcohol based product and if its botanical based the frig would be the best place for it. I know for a fact that AOS sells a skin toner for aftershaving made from Rose petals and they say to keep it in the frig.

It is suspected the razor is haunted.

I don't think the summer weather will do anything significant to the colognes. It may slightly evaporate but you'd need to keep them in direct sunlight to do much harm. The only time I've seen serious evaporation is with my wife's grandparents liquor stash - a bottle of amaretto sitting around for 30+ years had turned to syrup.

A recommendation I have read from someone who is trained in perfumery is to keep them in a refrigerator if being stored long-term. Heat and light are the enemies of scent. If they are used up within a year or two you should be ok though. Hope that helps.

Regards,
EL
