Aftershave balm for sensitive skin

Hello

Almost since I started shaving, I've been using Nivea's soothing aftershave balm. It works great on my face, but you know, I'd like something more smelly for a change. I've tried T&H Ultimate comfort aftershave balm, but I don't think I'm ready to pay over 30$ for 3.5 oz.

So what are my options until Colleen develop some balms?

Have anyone tried to add some cologne or essential oils to Nivea's balm?
Any other brands I should try?
How is the Proraso AS balm?

I alternate between the Nivea AfterShave balm and this: Neutrogena Razor Defense Post-Shave Lotion. In my opinion, the difference is that the Neutrogena seems to be a thicker lotion and a more neutral scent. I like it just a bit more than the Nivea product.

I use Taylors of Olde Bond Street, "Mr. Talyor" scent. But it's not much cheaper at $25.99. However, it lasts for several months so I think that amortizing over that time period it's not that expensive. I find it a very light, nice scnet. My freind really likes it.

I'm basically looking for something between T&H and Nivea. So let's say under 15$.

I really like the Nivea, but I feel like changing. I will always keep some since it works great for cheap, but I'm in to try something different.

So:

-Balm for sensitive skin (soft, moisturizing)
-Around 15$ or under
-I hate citrus smells, others are ok.

Cybrok,

Is it an absolute necessity to get an aftershave balm? The only reason I ask is that during winter I just use a moisturising cream immediately post-shave and it works a treat on my skin. Opens up your options a bit too both on price and scent.

How about trying the La Toja aftershave balm? It's similar to Nivea's AS balm.
This is good for sensitive skin, but there's an "Extra sensitive" version of it, which I haven't still found yet...

Your Idea of adding your favorite essential oils/oil is good. That would only
cost you maybe $2 on ebay. All you would need is maybe 2 to 4 drops and
shake well. Also make sure it's the scent you love because your stuck with it after adding it, "unless you try altering it with other oils afterwards". If you need any ideas on good e/o's and scents pm me as I
have over 70.

What I plan to do with the EO is make myself some samples. I hace small samples containers so I could pour some balm in them, then go where they sell EOs and try different smells.

Maybe even get the T&H cologne samples I have and make myself some great smelling balm

Quick question:

Is the Proraso Aftershave Balm suitable for sensitive skin? Or is there so much menthol that it will burn? How is the smell?

I will go today to a place where they sell it, but I wanted to ask before I spend on a whole bottle.

Let's say compared to Nivea's products. Will it sting and burn more or less than Nivea's menthol balm ("refreshing balm")?
