Castle Forbes products
Gentlemen,
I've been considering taking a step forward in life and upgrading to Castle Forbes products. Does anyone know where I could try them in the US? I don't suspect Dillard's or Sear's carries anything like this - and I'm not ready to drop a C-note on something I haven't smelled or felt. Thanks

You might try e-mailing them requesting some samples. I haven't tried them but other companies do so maybe CF will as well.

It's hard to say not knowing where you are. But you might check any high end department store in your area, say Needless Markup (aka Neiman Marcus) Saks Fifth Avenue etc. But let me tell you the lime oil cream is gooooood.

Also it is only 1/2 a c note for the shaving cream. Try Vintage Blades. He might be able to get you a sample. In fact I think the shaving cream with him is like $35. Not too bad....

Thanks alot.. I got so jazzed up talking about CF that I went to Vintage Blades site and ordered cedarwood/sandalwood. Even with shipping $43.

Thanks for the feedback and advice y'all, I'll try to check it out and get some samples. Pretty good sign that you couldn't resist the "purchase" button. Sorry about that!
Cheers

A tub of CF cream will last for a looooong time. It only takes the tiniest dab to make lather for days.

I willl have to try the Lavander next. I used the cedarwood and sandalwood Saturday I don't like it as much as the lime. However it is still great stuff.

Lynn and Don at Straight Razor Designs carry CF as well.
In my opinion, this line is absolutely one of the very finest creams available and worth the extra $$. If you look at the difference in price between CF and a lesser product over the course of a year, it just isn't that significant. The difference in quality and enjoyment, on the other hand, is definitely significant.

+1 for me on this. I used the cedarwood/Sandalwood again and while I am still not crazy for the scent the cream itself rocks.

I bought a tub at Aidan Gill in New Orleans. A very nice shave there, too, by the way, even if they do use a Mach 3. Anyway, I digress... They had samplers out that you could look at, smell, etc.
Of course, that's no help if you're not in that area, but who knows...

I have the CF Sandalwood, and yes it is very good. Straight Razor Designs is outstanding-but they sell a product made by Baxter of California which IMO, is the BEST Shave Cream I have EVER used. I have Castle Forbes as well as Taylor of Old Bond Street-both are really outstanding. I think the CF is the better of those two. The Baxter is only $19 and absolutely is worth every penny-has a VERY mild methol/pepperminty scent.
Even though those products are $$$-treat yourself and your FACE will thank you.

I have the CF lime cream. It's almost like a soft soap rather than a cream. I use the teeniest amounts to make gobs of lather. It's great stuff. Worst case scenario: you buy a tub, hate it, and sell the tub for a small loss. Certainly worth a try.
