Thumbs up 444 Aftershave Gel

I ordered this product from our own Leon at http://www.thevintagescent.co.cc and was pleased when it arrived within a week.

Leon’s instructions say to mix the clear gel in your palm with your favorite A/S splash. I forgot to do this the first time I tried it and have to say I didn’t care for the scent or the tacky feeling it left. After re-reading the instructions, I went ahead and put a pea sized dab of the 444 in my palm and added a few splashes of Spanish Floid A/S. I slapped the mixture on my face. The results were excellent! I got all the benefits of the Floid – a slight burn, toning, a great old fashioned scent – along with the perfect amount of moisture from the 444. I’ve since had great results mixing the 444 with Italian Floid as well as Tabac.

I love using alcohol splashes, but find many can leave my skin a little dry – at least in the drier seasons. The 444 adds that touch of moisture and blends well with the scent of the A/S. It leaves my skin toned, soft and supple.

For the price, this is a great product and well worth a try.

My experience with 444 essentially mirrors Jordan's. I find this to be an excellent (read: one of the best) ASB. When used as instructed by Leon, it quickly soothes razor burn and provides just the right amount of moisturizing. That Leon is very pleasant to deal with is an added bonus.

Thanks for the review. What scent does it have? So with the floid, there was no sticky residue?

Ray there is not much of a scent but you will smell menthol the most.
When mixed with a few drops of your favorite A/S It works best because
It waters it down a bit and won't leave a sticky feel on your face. The
sticky feeling goes away after 30 seconds or so and the menthol really
kicks in for a good time.

I have not smelled it on its own, only mixed it with aftershaves. The menthol component is quite strong, decidedly more so than the Floid Vigaroso. My skin does not immediately absorb all the mixture, but I would call the remains neither sticky nor residual. It is quite nice and, when combined with the menthol, likely accounts for its healing properties.

Thumbs up

I have been using the 444 aftershave balm for only... two weeks. I may not have enough insight but my instinct rarely makes a mistake. This wonderful product is already my ultimate aftershave balm. My pretty oily skin is a main concern, many balms are just to thick to be perfectly assimilated. 444 has just the perfect balance I expect: a thin balm with enough moisturizing properties. I do love this highly cooling effect. And my fiancée appreciates the menthol scent and the softness and the coolness of my freshly shaved skin. I have not tried the 444 mixed with an aftershave splash yet, I will give this method a go soon.
Anyway, I strongly recommend the 444 aftershave gel. For the price, it is worth the try. And if you dislike it, I would be glad to trade it with you ^^

My good friend fpessanha was nice enough to send me some 444. I think it's awesome stuff, very cool and refreshing with a quick fading scent.

My only complaint is the vinyl polymer compound used to thicken it (I like the all natural stuff). I am having a hell of a time reverse engineering it. I may try gelatin, if it works I will post a recipe.

Any luck on the recipe?
