Database Failure
Well guys.. The sites back up.. However, the DB failed and the last good backup was from October 2007..
So we've lost some posts, and anyone that registered in that time will need to re-register (sorry)..
With that being said, we're taking steps to make sure it doesn't happen again.. We'll be doing dual backups from now on..
So we've got a lot of posting to catch up on.. Better get started
P.S. Just tell your wives your busy helping up repopulate the forums...
Thanks
David (Send Whiskey)

Congratulations with getting SRP back in the air again.
I am quite sure most of us don't mind filling the gap of lost posts and threads!
Just consider it an early spring cleaning!

I'm happy to see everything is up and running. A couple of broken images here and there, but that's small stuff at this point.
David, if you're interested, I can steer you to a script that will create back-ups via a cron job. Let me know if I can help you out.

Great work getting the site back up!!
Surprising that there wasn't a good backup between now and Oct...too bad as it seems a lot of good info will be lost.
Looks like some of are PM's were lost as well
Great Job again

Well congrats on getting it back up. I was wondering if there is a way to reset our post count? I am asking cause I was about to hit 500 and now look at me. I'm listed as a noob again.
I think I will stick with the different name though. I will just have to get people used to it.

Yep and I am going to do it all in this thread!!!! At least I got my avatar back up. I like my samuraii monkey! I wanna go see a monkey knife fight bet that guy would kick butt. Wait... Shoot half the usernames on my email list are not gonna exist let alone the people who wanted pm's as their notice. And I have near 100 people on that list. Oh that is gonna be fun.

Thanks for your hard work David. I'm sure we'll get along just fine, though I think I'll miss some of the honing discussions that happened.

It is good to finally get the site back up.. good job
did the server crash due to a hacker attack or just randomly?
Is the server windows based or unix based.
Generally windows based servers are far more unstable. Microsoft (i.e. A virus) cannot develop a decent OS.
Surprised that there is no backup until going back to Oct, that stinks but we just have to suck it up and get posting

+1 on what Lynn said - thank you to all the mods and admins who got SRP back up and running!
Like IsaacRN, I was having withdrawl symptoms! Cold sweats, shaky hands....
