Changes to forum home page
So it seems that the forum layout is about to become just as inane as the one at B&B...
while it may be change, not sure if it is progress.
And YES Don, some of us are going to whine about it... i have spare, slighty used, body armor and flak vests if you want them.
you go away for a few days and ......

shouldn't we at least look at the changes before we start whining?

One of these days in your travels, a guy is going to show you a brand-new deck of cards on which the seal is not yet broken. Then this guy is going to offer to bet you that he can make the jack of spades jump out of this brand-new deck of cards and squirt cider in your ear. But, son, do not accept this bet, because as sure as you stand there, you're going to wind up with an ear full of cider.

Personally I like the change, the three "Mall" forums are not (and IMO shouldn't be) the main body of SRP, and moving them to the bottom is suitable. YMMV of course.

Whine, whine, me whine? Certainly not, I offer pithy comment, but I did think for a moment that I had badgered myself into visiting another forum; then the vertigo passed and I realized that I, like the rest of humanity, live in a world where the only constant is change.
hmmm, that whine I hear must be the sound of new gears being meshed for the first time, taking off on the maiden trip around cut throat curve. Hmmm, why that pith is almost poetry...

I personally liked being able to check both the BST and the Newbie forums by simply scrolling down, yet not have to see the Announcement/etc forums every time. I'll get used to it, so I don't want to whine. Just a few more clicks is all.
And yes, it does make sense and I can see why it was changed. It's just slightly less convenient for somebody who's looking for another razor and likes to check out the new posts in the Newbie and Razors sections, etc...

Merlot, Pinot. Chianti, Ripple, Night Train, Mogan David.
Now that we have the wines out of the way, can we just get on with it?

Hey Taz,
Could we move the BST up top here? Considering most sales of the good or in-demand stuff occur within about 3 minutes, we slow pokes could use any straws we can grasp.
By the time one cruises the various forums, trying to remember the threads one has commented pithly upon and finally gets down to where the Market is, the good stuff or anything 6/8 or wider is gone, pffft, gone , PM sent g'bye . The Air Force should have planes that fast.
Any help - greatly appeciated

Gentlemen just to give some insight on the changes, We are looking to create a community where Gentlemen with a Passion for Straight razors and shaving can come and discuss, learn and share of their passion. As well as a place they can build camaraderie and friendship and spend time discussing other things as well. We are growing some of the changes are being implemented not just for now but for the future. To always maintain our Gentleman's Culture and Love of Straight Razor Shaving.
The organizational changes were done after researching many Gentlemen sites both Shaving and non Shaving. Looking at what the members liked as well as their culture and size. Not that we want to be like any of them we just want to provide the best environment we can. To promote that vision. If you think about it we come here with the interest of Straights but more then likely keep coming because of the people.
We will also be adding some new forums you may look at them and wonder why or you might jump in Right away. Some will not be active right away it might take awhile. All with the vision of being the best Gentle mens Forum on the web. Nothing is screams gentlemen more then Straight Razor Shaving what a Foundation. And looking at all the gathering the friendship are growing daily. We are a True Gentleman's Club(With a Few Lovely Ladies that are always welcome)
Well I hope my rambling makes sense, All your feedback is wanted either through post or PM if you have ideas please share shoot me a PM and I will take it to the team. I am working on and idea now we just got from a member. All i ask is as you look at the changes be open minded and look at the whole picture and vision. We have the greatest group of Gentleman already what a Foundation to build the best Gentleman's Club on the Web, Hell now with all the face to face meetings the best Gentleman's club anywhere.

Don,
Actually i started the thread because you did not want to hear any whining ... so i figured if you did not get any you would think nobody noticed! and then you would sulk around your house all weekend and not share anymore cool razor pics with us...
so far the changes are ok except i would like to see the 2 hone sections completely divorced!
and by the way the spare jackets are the "improved ventilated" models... 20, 16, 12 and 10 gauge slugs have been through them a few times not to mention some rifle rounds....
keep chugging away at the changes unlike an old dog i can adjust.

Indeed! Thanks for reestablishing the order, Jim. I'd personally have the champagne right after bordeaux, but as long as you got the burgundy first, I'm ok
I'd only add barolo, brunello and rioja to the whine, and perhaps late-harvest riesling & ice wine. Ok, now I better go wine on the couch.

Naw, my list is actually Glenfiddich, Balvenie, Aberlour, and Glenlivet.
I do like the philosophy a meeting of gentlemen. I'm looking forward to the implementation.

Call me challenged, but I noticed no changes to the Home Page. I must be a "B" member . . .

I'm glad someone mentioned Rioja - can't have a wine without Rioja.... I also think it's appropriate to mention Retsina - feels different and strange initially, but the longer you drink it, the better it becomes.....
