Default You know you've made it in the world of straight razors when.....

.... your name becomes a selling point at eBay auction.

Refurbished Straight Razor - eBay (item 320274535487 end time Jul-21-08 05:26:14 PDT)

Do you think Lynn gave personal endorsement for this?

And lets face it- in both cases, practice is half the fun

That ducking thing has been on ebay before. I PMed the link to Lynn, IIRC correctly he said the thing is OK but not great.

This is the part I can't figure out: "The custom handle is made of one piece of Vera wood"

How do you make a set of scales out of one piece of wood? Maybe it's implied that the piece was broken into two separate pieces and affixed to each other via metal fasteners

The handles on Mastro Livi's razors are made from one piece of wood. The piece is wide enough for two scales and the razor and you just cut a slot for the razor and put the single pin in the open end.

Oh wow that's awesome, I was just thinking the other day, how would one go about making a handle out of a single piece of wood

I am not very handy as you can tell

The give-away here is the absent second pin.

But Livi one piece scales do have a second pin in them. However its just for decoration.

Subsequent investigation revealed the razor belonged to Toshiro Kawasaki a WWll Kamakazee pilot who was killed when his plane slammed into the USS Yorktown. His last act was to shave with that razor. It is suspected the razor is haunted.
