Default Nominate your favorite honing threads of all time...

Guys,

Bruno and I are putting together a FAQ index of great honing threads. We need your help to compile the list.

We're looking for good threads or good posts that give the answers to the most common honing questions that newbies have. The goal is for the FAQ to be a starting point, presenting the most critical info right up front before we have a chance to confuse and overwhelm them.

So here's what I'm hoping you'll be willing to do: Post a link here to your favorite basic honing thread, along with the question or questions you think it answers. We'll weed through the entries and include most of them in the FAQ.

As part of this process, we may delete some off-topic posts from the thread. Please don't take offense; the goal is to provide information in a clear, straightforward manner. Chances are good some of those off-topic posts will be mine.

Thanks for your help and contributions,
Josh

Pasting a Strop - I think it should be in the honing section as many people use pastes and chromium to finish

Josh's "Hone Lapping 101"

Hone lapping 101

Used to be stickied and I say it should be brought back.

Ah, but it is now a link in the FAQ, you see.

The problem with stickies is that if you get too many then people tend not to read them. We're hoping one really good one will get read.

Guys, I added most of these threads to the FAQ. Keep 'em coming.

As this thing gets longer, I'll start to organize it by topic. I think it'll be a great starting point for newbies.

Thanks for your help!

Josh

Since it is a newbie FAQ I would suggest including a link to the documentation files for download. I think first time users may have a harder time finding it:
