Default Cheapest hone on earth 4 kitchen & utility knives

After watching Murray Carter on YouTube sharpen a knife with a cinderblock & a piece of cardboard, I got an ordinary red brick & flattened one of the narrow sides. It works surprisingly well! Not fine (I'd put it at maybe 250 grit) but the resulting edge slices paper with ease. Do you need a morror polish on your work & kitchen knives? Unless you're a surgeon or a sushi chef, probably not.

HA!

This would be the perfect compliment to the cinder block lapping surface: flat as a concrete block

No, this isn't the cheapest way to get something horribly sharp.
This IS
(read on)
1 steal newspaper of a sleeping tramp/hobo
2 rub a little metal polish on said stolen newspaper
3 put on flat surface
4 rub sharp object up and down newspaper as many times as needed
5 shave or cut things with shiny edged blade

this is not a joke

Yeah, metal polish works great as a finshing paste.

But it won't really "sharpen" anything.
