Default Blade with a bend in it - Tips and Suggestions

So I have just recently started honing and have run across a razor that has a small bend in the blade. The back of the blade is a little convex and the front a little concave. When you look at the hone wear on the edge you see something a little like :

||||| edge ||

Where the heel and toe of the blade are far more equal

||| edge |||

Anyone able to help out with some tips on how to handle this situation?

My wife did suggest that it would be alright for me to 'Retire the razor to the archives' which I am not sure exactly what that means but translates into my head as 'Go buy yourself another razor'

You got some pics for us?

I haven't come across such a blade myself, so I'd like to see pics, then give you an idea on how I would go about honing. But I am sure there are others here who have had experience with such blades and they will be along shortly to give you advice.

But you know sounds like you got a perfect opportunity to get another razor, you shouldn't let it go by.

As long as you are getting an edge on there, it'll be fine just the way it is.

Some razors are so bent they don't make contact in the middle of one side at all!

So, you're is slightly bent, your bevels are therefore a bit uneven (if I understand your diagram correctly...)

In any event, please do go out and buy a new razor as well, as that sounds as close to a SWMBO "green light" as most of us will ever get

oh, don't get me wrong, I am trolling the antique malls on the way home. I know when I have been given the go ahead

I have only been straight shaving for about a week, so my experience is limited, but I was able to get the blade sharp enough to shave with and there was no 'extra' irritation with it. I don't think I will give up on the blade, just work a little harder on it

Some blades are worse than others, but I've yet to see one that's perfectly straight & true. Just hone with an X pattern to adjust & you'll be fine. If the blade is really warped, just roll your X a little more, that's all.
