Default My Picture PERFECT Georgetown Scuttle V3

Well I got this from Lori today...It is wonderful! I sent some pics of my cats, Milo and Cocoa.
This is a VERY SPECIAL mug. I was chattin with Lori about when the new ones were comin out and I mentioned the nice artwork I saw on some of the other GP scuttles. She said "I PAINT THEM"
WOW!!!!
Well you take a look...
It's the Version 3 which is made in a mold not free thrown by hand. Tho they will make one by hand if you want...
The lather section has been raised a bit and the concentric circles are more pronounced. The spout has been configured so it is ...ABOUT PERFECT...
NO!!!
The entire scuttle is what I consider to be a PERFECT SCUTTLE!!!!

WHY????

- A nice size...not too big and not too small.
- I can lather with it on the counter and whip a lather with one hand.
- The water covers the bottom of the lather bowl completely so it stays warm far longer than any 4 or 5 pass shave
- lovely bit of artwork
- affordable...the personal paintin is ~ $10 extra.

Lori has really captured the essence of my frisky cats.

Here's Milo

Here's Cocoa

Dry with one of my fav brushes...Vintage brushes really sing to me.

Latherin up

Here's some of my other GP scuttles that have come and gone...just to show some of the other colors. There is no limit to what they can make.

I'll be using Georgetown Pottery for some special dinner plates...
They are so nice to chat with.
Remember how this scuttle came about.
One of our Brothers in Brush had them make one to his design. And he posted about his scuttle.
GP received MANY calls and emails about the scuttle and there were several versions till they perfected it.
The guy who owns the place is not a wetshaver...This is among the VERY FEW times I know of that someone listened to what the user needed and made it happen.
Lori is the real power behind this, I think. She does the artwork with Jess and Lori is the one who, most likely, will answer your email.
Their phone number is 866-936-7687
Their email is GPOTTERY@GWI.NET

Very nice indeed! That will certainly be on my Christmas wishlist! Can I be so bold as to ask how much they are selling these beauties for?

Thanks for sharing this gorgeous scuttle!

Tom,
that scuttle looks AWESOME!

I know how much you were looking forward to it, and it's good to see that it exceeded your expectations. About $10 extra is not so bad to get you something that's unique.

The Hamada and Persimmon has a good home with me - there's plenty of room in there to really whip up loads of nice, warm lather. I'm very happy with it.

PS: Thanks for that block - it's brisk!!

Those are the coolest! I am convinced I need those wonderful potters of Georgetown to fashion for me a scuttle. However I wouldn't want to put the evil Mr. Toes on it. He's a wretch and should stay away from me when I shave or sleep or when I am awake.

That is a beautiful scuttle!!

I own one in Hamada Blue aand a super scuttle from OSKAR and I switch them around a bit.

I love them both and would not want to part with either.

Your custom design makes it very special.

Now you've done it. I was perfectly content with my lather bowl until you show up. NOW I've spent another $50 bucks thanks to you.

I sold my small moss scuttle, and got a georgetown scuttle in hamada & purple. I liked the moss scuttle but it was too small to build the lather in the scuttle. The georgetown scuttle is almost half the price with shipping, and is perfect for building lather in the scuttle. I almost wish I would have held out a bit longer. I like the perfected design with the raised inner bowl. The custom painting is also a very nice touch.

Not sure if I should start a new thread or if this is the place to ask, so tell me if I am wrong.

I was wondering how you get the hot water in the scuttle. Wouldnt it make more sense for the bowl part to detach? I personally am using a normal bowl to lather in, so I really know nothing about scuttles.

there is a small opening at the rim. If you go up to the pictures at the top you can easily see it.

A new thread may get more responses and views, Akady.
This pic shows the water fill spout quite well.

I used a regular bowl with concentric raised ribs in it before I used a scuttle. I preheated the bowl, made lather in it, floated the bowl in the hot sink water. It worked great.
I tired of removing the lather bowl each time I rinsed my face and replacing it into the hot water again.
The scuttle just makes for ease of use and is nice to look at and use.
Many folk use a bowl of hot water with a second bowl with lather in it.

Whatever makes it happen for you is the theme.
Regards

No wonder. Correct me if I am wrong, but it is slipcast, isn't it? And slipcasting ceramic items involves a lot less effort and time than handthrowing them. The advantage (or disadvantage, depending on the viewpoint) is that the results are uniform.
