Bought myself a CE Best Badger Brush and got my first shave out of it about an hour ago. One question though, when does that wet cat smell go away?

Anyways, I love it! It felt great, and I can't believe that this is what I've been missing this whole time. Unbelievable.

I belive that in recent post the smell has been described as "weasel butt", the cure described was to wash it in Dawn dish detergent, or you could simply wait it out and go around smelling like "weasel butt".

I did the shampoo, rinse, repeat multiple, multiple times with my Shavemac when I first got it. But even after that shampooing the hint of the smell was still there. It took some weeks of usage before the hint of the smell completely disappeared.

Try dawn dishwashing liquid or boraxo. They seem to help a lot.

Strangely enough, some of us have not only gotten used to the smell of a wet badger but quite look forward to it, just like new car smell!

To be honest, I don't do anything other than use the brush. I find the smell goes away after a week or sometimes two.

Now, if you had a brand new Boars hair brush, you would have my full sympathy as those things sometimes smell like it's the hair around the.... well, lets just say it doesn't smell like it's from the front of the boar.

A mild shampoo... baby shampoo is great or soak for a few minutes in a mug of water with a tsp of borax will help somewhat but just plain ol' using it will suffice with a badger hair brush.

i shampoo and condition my brushes about twice when i get them and deal with whats left. I actually really liked the way that brush smelled after the "treatment" I gave it. Guess i like weasel butt
