You've Seen the Brush, Here's the Complete Set
This is very conservative for me so I've named it Connie. It is inspired by the arts and crafts design period and the work of Greens and Greene of San Diego, Gustave Stickley and Frank Lloyd Wright.
The Brush is 28mm of silver tipped badger set in a turned Delrin handle with fine (.999) silver trim. Hidden in the handle is a permanent rare earth magnet that allows it to be suspended over the genuine Georgetown Pottery scuttle. The stand is Delrin columns and quarter sawn white oak, fumed with ammonia vapors, sealed with three coats of marine grade varnish and three coats of Butcher's Wax.
The entire set is for sale in the Classified section http://straightrazorplace.com/classi...hp/product/325 :

Nice! Very cool use of the magnet. How did you hide it in the stand?

Somehow I can see Frank looking at that and being happy, God that man could design! Good job Brad!

Ah, good question! I bored a hole the same size as the magnet into the underside of the top piece of oak. After pressing the magnet into place, I plugged the hole with a plug cut from the same piece of oak being careful to align the grain of the plug with that of the main piece of oak. When you place the brush up against the top, it finds its home very smoothly and releases easily when pulled towards you. I am thrilled with the design but there will never be a duplicate (at least not signed by me).
Thanks for the great compliments!

Good job hiding the plug. It blends right in with the rest of the wood grain!

Very trick with the magnets. It's an elegant solution/design.

Now Utopian that isn't true at all. Connie would elevate the status of your basement shave den to way above crappy.

Absolutelly outstanding. A true work of art. If I had not busted my budget for the next several months, I would be all over that. Gotta say it again, a true work of art!!!
Thanks for sharing.

Amazing! I really like the magnetic touch!
If only I had 450 bucks and was living in the CONUS... maybe one day I'll be inspired - and skilled - and will make myself one.
Excellent work!

Trust me. Where I shave is not a shave den. Shave pit, maybe.

You have such a beautiful set!
Your scuttle is so nice! This is not the first time I see one like that. Where can I get a similar one?

Thank you!
You can purchase this one in the Classified section. I will just have to find out how much shipping to France would cost.

I am sincerely sorry but I cannot afford it
(I was just looking for the single shaving scuttle!)

Very nice! I got hooked on the Craftsman style and its descendants when I was a kid. My parents actually had a copy of Elbert Hubbard's Scrap Book--the original printing--around the house, and some other Roycrofters publications, plus a few pieces of more or less Mission furniture. All of that still colors my ideas of what the crafted world should look like. Well done.

As always, you are an fine artist and a fine craftsman! I really appreciate the visual aesthetic... just wish I could afford to give that lovely lady a home so I could appreciate it on a tactile level. Thank you for your vision!

Beautiful, clean & elegant, signore. It would fit right in William Morris' shave den IMHO. The only possible hitch is that I would be way too tempted to sit & play with the brush & magnet. As my beloved said, good job we have Teddy!
