Default Another homegrown brush

20mm Silvertip knot from Turchetta-first off, let me say this certainly seems like a nice knot. About 65mm of loft, bristles are quite resilient, tips feel soft ( not as soft as a Shavemac, but definitely little to no scritch).

For $15? Fuggettaboutit!

6061 Aluminum handle-My first attempt at turning anything on a lathe, Took me about 2 1/2 hours start to finish, including shining it up. Someone who actually knew how to use a lathe probably would have been done in about 20 minutes...

Styling: I was looking for a Kent sort of waist at the bottom. I actually was hoping for an overall Kent outline, but I was limited by the 1" stock I had, so there was not enough "meat" to craft the upper bulbous portion. Regardless, the waist fits my fingers quite nicely. Handle height-60mm, bristle loft mounted-55mm

Waiting for the epoxy to cure, then give it a go tomorrow evening....

I happened to buy two of the knots, so I'm also planning a hardwood edition brush as well....I actually hadn't planned on doing a metallic one, but that is what I had in the shop at the moment, and I got impatient......so I made it out of aluminum.

Pretty fun. Custom stuff is nice to have!

Hi Sergio, thanks!

The bristles on this one are about the same consistancy as on that Kingswood brush you got from me (I imagine that is a Turchetta knot as well). The diffference being that this one is a 20mm knot

Nice one, very minimalistic design, cool! Sounds like you are about to do almost exactly the same as me, one brush in alu, one in hardwood, both with knots from Turchetta!! Lol!

Yeah, I saw yours. Very nice. I had been contemplating going alum, and then you beat me to it!

Are you going to surface treat the handle in some way? Otherwise I fear it will oxidize eventually...

On the other hand, a natural oxidized alu piece can be quite attractive......

Very nice!! Simple and elegant. I really like it.

A metal lathe/mill combo is next on my wish list and has been for some time. If I won the lottery I never play, I'd buy a Smithy.

Did you cut a recess in the aluminum for the veneer?

No, it is laminated on top.

Next time I'd recess it...
