Default SRP Group Buy-QED Soap

Well, I can't believe someone hasn't done a review yet so I guess I'll do it.

I received mine almost a week ago and have used it a few times. I have to say when I first opened it I wasn't thrilled with it but the more I use it the more it grows on me.

The soap is a glycerine based soap with a sandlewood/vetiver scent to it. The soap performance wise is a typical glycerine product to say it lathers very rapidly and gives a very thick and rich lather that remains moist a long time. the lubricating characteristics are excellent also. I would assume all the QED Soaps will perform the same since I had picked up the B&B editition he did for them and it performs the same. With a good medium sized badger brush about 20 seconds of swirling and you'll have enough lather to shave a platoon.

As far as the scent goes I have to say it is different. I had thought the B&B was very powerful and almost kind of chemical. That is not the case here. The scent is more subtle but still plenty of it and is more natural. personally I'm more of a milled soap kind of guy but these QED soaps are very nice and perform very well. I would rate it an 8 out of 10 which is to me the top score for any glycerine based soap which to me simply can't match the overall performance of a good milled soap. But that is just my opinion here.

All and all I would certainly recommend this soap. Its a good all around performer but just be aware the scent is not the flowery type definately a more masculine type scent.

Sigh... it sounds like it'll be worth waiting for.... and waiting for..... Ah well, such is life in Canuckistan. It'll get here eventually.

I have to agree on your perception of QED soaps in general, not quite as well rounded as a triple mill English soap but the scents are heavenly and pure, only some gents do have skin issues with those potent oils. I love my QED soaps for their scents, and they do perform very well once you get the hang of lathering them up, offering plenty of glide but not so much cushion. I also find that through the warmer months of the year, I don't really need to use much if anything in the way of aftershaves of balms, though I do like the QED aftershave skin conditioners.

Just got mine. Not really what I expected. But smells nice nevertheless. Very woody indeed. Looking forward to trying the stuff out.

I received mine as well.Seems to be very close to the B&B scent.
I love the scents in Charles soaps but I do think he could back off a little on the EO's and FO's and more people would be able to enjoy them without irritation.
I have to be careful not to take too much time shaving with his soaps or they will start to burn a little.
All in all I think the scent of this soap is great and really goes well with Diptyque's Tam Dao cologne.

I got mine and tried it out. When I first opened it, the smell was almost overpowering, and it reminded me of Tea Tree oil. once I let it air out a little, and made my lather the more subtle fragrances of the Snadlewood, and Vetiver came out.
I took my time with this shave, I wanted to see if the lather would dry, or if I would have any irritation from the oils in the soap.
I am very happy to say neither happened. it held it's moisture as well as any of my other soaps, and didn't cause any irritation. (although you don't want to get any in your nose... it stings pretty good there)

Charles only uses EOs I think once or twice on a B&B specil he might of used FO but none of his normal soaps or this soaps have any FOs Pure EOs and you are right they are strong but that is his thing that is what he is none for not cheap on the EO

I've been loving mine. Even more importantly my wife is crazy about it. I really like the scent and am glad that it is as powerful as it is.

After the first you could still smell the soap in our bathroom 8 hours later. Good thing the wife is a fan. She actually made comments throughout the day about how much she liked the scent.

Great soap! I'll definitely have to try some of the other QED soaps.

I got mine in last week too...

When I opened the cover I wasn't too thrilled about the scent..

When I actually swirled it up with the badger the overpowering smell wasn't too bad and the lather is absolutly fabulous!!!!

I'm certainly not meaning to knock Charles.I knew how he made his soaps when I ordered this one.I've just noticed that alot get resold because of irritation issues.
I won't be reselling any of mine.I just have to be a little careful how I use them.
Currently I have his Violetta,Wild Rose and now the Sandalwood/Vetiver and the smells that come out of the tubs are phenomenal.

I tried the soap last night. The smell kind of grows on me. At first I didn't know for sure if I liked it. Now I do like it. It does seem a touch too strong in scent though. It did burn on my face just a little. Not heavily like FO's do. But like a little tingle that goes away as soon as teh soap is rinsed off.

The shave was excellent. The lather not quite a good as I get it with Mammabear soap but still quite good. I'll keep this soap for quite a while I think.

I might try melting a little extra scent through it at one point though, maybe some vanilla. It seems to be a scent that would go REALLY well with something sweet.
