FS: Belgium/coticule slurry stones
I bought a belgium/coticule combination hone 2 weeks ago and sadly it before I even got to try it out, it met its demise. I also found out the hard way, coticule is very soft.
So I decided to cut it up by hand and offer it as slurry stones. I cut it with a coping saw, coz I don't have fancy diamond cutting disks and fancy machines that take such discs. I learned that it was faster and better to cut the stone dry. When the hone was wet I only got 2 slurry stones cut before the teeth wore right off the blade, when dry however I got the rest of the hone cut and there is plently of life left in the blade. I just thought some might be interested in that small bit of info.
I'm also starting to think I am not supposed to own a coticule/belgian combo as this is the second time something has gone wrong..... Anyway here are the pics, I took 1 of the coticule and one of the side to show thickness and the blue, which is actually more like purple than blue.
The first slurry stone labled 1, is 3.5x2.5CM The coticule is 6mm and the blue is 1cm thick. I'd like $20USD plus shipping. (PENDING)
The second pic of three slurry stones (unnumbered). Each one is just shy of 4x2CM. With the same thickness mentioned above. I'd like $15USD each plus shipping.
The third photo labled 3: has 2 larger slurry stones. Each is 8x3.5CM with same thickness as above. I'd like $35USD each plus shipping.
Shipping via normal post, which takes 10 or so days, is $5 to US and $7 to rest of world.
Note: I cannot accept credit card payments for these slurry stones.
PM if interested.

Sakes alive, people should not hesitate to jump on these!! I have one solid Belgian Blue slurry stone left from one I had Howard cut up for me early this year and I was just about to list it on BST; I think I'll wait awhile now...... .
Seriously though, I think a yellow coticule slurry stone from Howard is going for around $17 and you're selling combo slurry stones for around that amount. Good deal. As much as I think the yellow slurry can be played with, I think the garnet in the rough with your combo slurry stones is the blue side since blue slurry stones are not found that often if at all and I have REALLY liked using blue slurry on my Belgian Blues. It kicks the cutting into high gear without doing damage to the edge.
I'm glad to see these are being offered. You definitely have something useful here rather than a novelty.

Well I guess its not everyday that a fool breaks his yellow/blue combo hone. But lots of people like slurries, so I figured someone may as well get use out of this unfortunate accident. I'm surprised that a slurry would need to be generated on the yellow, given just how soft this one was, it should create its own.
So the natural Japanese hones and Tosuke razors are just novelties eh?

Not at all. Blue slurry on blue stones has not yet had a wide following and I think for what it does in helping the blue stone cut, it should have a wider following. Yellow coticule slurry stones are established as a commonly used addition some find useful in their Belgian arsenal. That's what I meant.
