Default Phil Ochs

Hi All,
No idea how many readers have heard of this guy, but figured I'd include a few of his songs. He was a favorite of mine a loooooooong time ago, and his style was similar to Dylan's.
The first song (Changes) is just so beautiful to me, and the second has a very Dylanesque feel to the lyrics.
Unfortunately, he died very young..........a victim of his personal demons. I hope one or two of you enjoy these compositions.
Martin

The very first CD I ever bought was Phil Ochs. My favorite is "Love me I'm a liberal". What a fantastic indictment of anyone who doesn't have the fortitude to stand behind their convictions...aka hypocrites. The man had a rapier wit that took no prisoners. While I disagree with many of his political views, his suicide was a loss to us all. People with honest convictions as strong as his are rare.

Hi there,
Must be the rain that made me post those songs. There's a feeling of melancholy when I listen to some of his things, a part of the emotional package I guess. The way and reasons he died always makes me a bit sad, which adds to the whole experience of listening.
The guy had a strong political bent to him, but that was never the main attraction for me. Nope, I liked his words and melodies in non political songs, plus as you mentioned, he had a great sense of humor. He wasn't above doing parodies of himself, which is always nice to see.
His voice was unique, and not for everyone. The tremelo kinda thing always appealed to me, and often complemented his style.
Glad this post hit a note for you,
Martin

The first song I ever heard of his was "I Ain't Marching Anymore" and his style and guitar prowess are what inspired me to learn to play the guitar.
