Has election just been cancelled
I hope you will all read this. Understand what this may mean. I've been talking about this for 4 years so far. I also have a few running bets. Please read and check the links also. This comes as no surprise to me.
CNN is reporting that McCain has "suspended his campaign" and is asking Obama to do the same, due to the economic crisis: Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain announced Wednesday that he is suspending his campaign to return to Washington and focus on the "historic" crisis facing the U.S. economy. Is this the first step in canceling the elections due to "national emergency"?
Is that part of the reason that the U.S. military is permanently being deployed within the U.S. to deal with "civil unrest" and "crowd control"?
Many of us have been warning about this possibility for years.
Hopefully, McCain's suspension of his campaign is just political posturing, and he will return to the campaign next week. Hopefully, this is not the first step in canceling the election.

Dennis,
Your sources aren't that great. The google search is okay, it supports that people have been saying this stuff. But the blog takes the army news article out of context. Bottom line, it wouldn't surprise me, but, I hope you aren't correct. McCain suspending his campaign doesn't signify anything serious to me. If Congress suspends the election, that will be something substantial to be sure.

Yes I know there is not much out on this yet. Could be McCain is trying to sidestep the debate with Obama scheduled for Friday. At least I hope so.

I'm sure there is a political intention of gain from being first to say let's go be senators and save the nation from economic doom. Suspend the campaigning to deal with the immediate situation that deserves their complete attention

I will be casting my vote on Tuesday November 4, 2008, just as millions of other Americans will be doing that day. IMO

It is a great piece of strategy, if Obama joins him in DC then it looks like he is following McCain and if he doesnt then it looks like he doesnt care. The election will go on.

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous.
First they postpone the RNC convention because of the hurricane? What did that accomplish? Did GW & McCain help steer the hurricane clear of New Orleans? WTF?
Now they cancel a debate because of a problem on Wall street?
What will he do if he actually is in office and something happens? "Sorry I have to stop everything so that I can go think about things..."
?????
What a crock.
If he can't multi-task he shouldn't be in the oval office. Simple as that.

I like what McCain is doing. I don't think he should have missed as many votes as he has already in his elected Congress seat. Maybe he's going to do some economics research during his campaign break too, that would be helpful

McCain is so transparent - he wants to give Palin (Caribou Barbie) more time to study before the VP debate.

His actions are that of a typical military man! Nothing more and nothing less!

He could be hoping to cancel tomorrow's debate in the hopes that they'll reschedule the debate for the VP slot and bump the VP debate entirely. He could be trying to dodge a debate with Obama. The Bush admin. could be trying to declare marshal law. We'll see.

This, and his leaving POW's behind (yes, yes, I know, but it's documented) are the two biggest reasons I can't vote for the man. And I can't go with the other guy, either. I am finding the meltdown after last night's scream session regarding the bailout high entertainment. And Chuck Schumer's (sp?) out and out lies to help his candidiot look better are going to put me in the hospital for splitting a gut laughing.

Not so. In over two decades, I've never done anything similar to what he's done or is doing, and no soldier is more typical than I, regardless of Hollywood's portrayals thereof. Rather more like what a simpering politician from the elite and self-aggrandizing ruling class would act as...

Study for what? To debate a VP that doesn't even agree with the President candidate
They should be ashamed

I suspect you see him in a different light than I do! I meant his immediate and decisive action! If not for all the preconceived notions we have in our heads or the second and third guessings we do of the candidates actions and words during election time, this is likely what we all would have seen, a man acting on what he believes is right, quickly and decisively!
Oh, and thanks for your service!

Oh, OK. I did misunderstand the post. And actually I do like the fact that he did go back to Washington and do what the constituency elected him to do, but I still see a lot of the "less-a-public-servant-than-a-master" in him and most others we send to Washington.

I'm really glad that he kept telling us that he has suspended his campaign while making all those interviews and speeches, if he didn't tell me he had suspended his campaign I would never have noticed.
