I guess somebody else thought it reminded them of Hitlers youth as it has been removed!
The video was a group of very beautiful children singing the praises of Obama urged on by what I can only assume was their parents!
It was reminiscent of the youth that dictators gather together to sing to them, or follow them around as to make the dictator appear benign and loving!
I wanted to throw up!

Without being able to see it, I can't really comment.
But isn't this type of stuff typical for american politics? I imagine the same type of thing goes on at McCain publicity event. Perhaps not singing, but it'll be a speech or something or other.
The pledge of allegiance is a similar sort of mandatory unification / polarization charade.

In all my years, I have seen nothing like this in American politics, Bruno!

I haven't been able to actually see the video so I don't know how bad it was.

How exactly did you find such video?
If you look around yourself with an open mind you'll be surprised how many things will invoke similar associations. A good book to reread is animal farm.

That's why I mentioned the pledge of allegiance. A nice piece of dissent quelling material if there ever was one. And if you disagree it is all to easy to get marked as un[atriotic and unAmerican.

What about hymns? Aren't most of them singing about Christ the spiritual leader?

It played just fine for me
It's weird, but nothing new. Kids have been singing the praises of their parent's favorite cadidates for a long time. What scares me is the "we're gonna change the world, rearrange it" bit. That little girl has no idea

Well, it does have shades of "Die Knechtschaft dauert nur mehr kurze Zeit", but anyone that would tear up and be convinced to vote for Obama because of this would probably tear up and be convinced that every time a lion is born in Africa, some monkey stands up on a cliff and holds it up for the zebras to see. "Hey, turds! Here's the next king that's going to gobble you up..." (What am I saying? That's EXACTLY like American politics.) We have only ourselves to blame for this kind of crap, from both sides of the aisle, because it's just this sort of symbolism over substance (to borrow a loathed phrase) that we've been touting. The one thing that made me throw up a little bit in my mouth was the phrase, "...we are going to change the world." Oh, really? Under whose auspices? With what mandate? Hey, Bruno, we're going to change Belguim for you, because, well... you know... it needs to be CHANGED! And we know better than you do how it should be changed, see? Yeah. I don't ever recall reading anywhere in the Constitution that the President of the U.S. is granted authority to run anything at all outside of the U.S. Leader of the "free world" indeed. It makes me so sick.

Those poor kids. I don't know exactly what to say, and probably shouldn't say here.

+1 on this statement. And who cares anyway? My kids aren't in this video. Now if he gets elected and starts rounding up Jewish people and sending them to concentration camps I might play the Hitler youth card. Until then I just don't care about stuff like this or any propaganda as I don't let it influence me.

I wouldnt let my kid sing for either candidate. Its like mothers who force their daughters to do the beauty pageants, living thru their kids.

Hmmmm...you mean like these vids?
The kids singing for the Obama campaign could have been singing for any cause, anywhere in the US, for either party, or at any church, or summer camp, or youth center.
I listened to it and only heard Obama's name mentioned in the beginning, the rest was how "we" (the kids singing are going to make changes, "we" are going to do this, etc.
I found the labeling of this by the Conservatives as a hymn to "Dear Leader" Obama or other such comments to be puerile.
Using children for political purposes is as old as politics - and is sad and in bad taste regardless of the party involved.
However, as noted here, parents will force their kids into anything - sports, beauty pageants, music lessons, youth groups, etc. It depends on whether the kids wants to participate or if the parent is living through the child, hoping to fulfill some personal fantasy. To wit, the dad arrested for assaulting a coach becasue Junior didn't get to pick his hat and jersey first or the mom who asked brother-in-law to hire a hit man to kill the mom of another cheerleader competing against her daughter for a spot on the cheer leading squad or the mother who assaulted an 11-year old boy becasue he was cheering for the team playing against hers on.
Will it influence my vote? Only as far as supporting any potential bond issue that would raise funds for music and vocal training.

Well you've asked what I thought before and whined when I told you. But if you really want to know, kids learn what they are taught. That little girl is singing what the adults around her organized. I am sure if you decided you kid should start campaigning for your favorite candidate, you probably post the video with great pride. The net result is, who gives a crap?
I saw a cable TV documentary about the church that organizes protests at the funerals of soldiers sent back in aluminum boxes from IRAQ. There were little children maybe six years old screaming hatred against the USA and homosexuality in the name of some god. People teach their kids all sorts of politics and religion. That is why I always advise parents to teach their kids to question authority, especially their own authority. Let kids learn by observing the outside world. Expose kids to various cultures, music, politics and religions. Make kids ea | | |
