I had a DE shave today because I was tired and wanted a quick shave. I used some brand new Nomad C&E Cream which was great. I used the famed Feather blade for the first time ever. WOW closest shave ive ever had! I had my razor set to 5 and it was great. I got a few tiny nicks, which i attribute to the sharp ass blade...No other blade seems to work for me and i dont have a very thick beard. Personna Barely cut at 9 setting, Derby was almost as bad, Dorko kinda worked, and these old gillette blades i have were good. But the feather worked great.

Anyone else love Feathers? Do you know of any blades similar to them?

I've found the same thing; the Feathers give me a close smooth shave. No real drawbacks for me. Awesome DE blade!

When I was using a DE I would use Feathers almost exclusively. Once in a while I would try something else, but the Feather was the go-to blade for me.

I've used them but preferred (Swedish) Gillettes. I found the Feather blades to be too sharp and I would get nicks and even razor burn, unnecessarily.
I don't find nicks enjoyable. In fact a shave should leave no discomfort on the facial skin whatsoever. I find my skin is healthier and the facial hair closer cut with a straight than any DE blade in whatever razor holder you care to mention.

IMHO , the only reason straight razors are not mass marketed any more has nothing to do with shave quality, but everything to do with the making of money for huge multinational Companies. Modern razors do offer speed and throwaway convenience. If this suits your lifestyle so be it, but nicks, razor burn, skin problems from soap, etc.,etc., all tend to be associated with these recent technologies. DE technology is sort of a half way house. The learning curve to use a DE is a lot less than for a straight. But I have found that going through learning curves and taking on the challenges of daily life always lead to fulfillment and reward. Straight razors reward those who bother with the learning curve the most comfortable shave available. Period. IMHO.

You forget that modern man is also very, very lazy. Most folks use a throwaway as it epitomizes lazyness...I mean, ease of use.

That being said, sometimes there just isn't time for a proper straight shave. When that happens, a DE loaded with a Feather is a quick, close & comfortable shave! My BBS staright shave takes 30-40 minutes, a BBS DE shave takes 15-20.

OK, you are going to make me admit it... I sometimes go to my slant razor with a feather blade when I am in a hurry. But for anyone outside of this group that asks, I shave with a straight every single day!
Gotta keep my macho and slightly eccentric image intact...

AHA! Actually, this thread is just a clever ruse to find out which of you are actually closet DE users!

If you put those feathers in a Merkur Slant, you'll get a GREAT shave... I have about eighty left and haven't touched them since I went Str8 two years ago.
