Default Durham Blade Wanted

Anyone have some used Durham Duplex Razor Blades they do not need? I recently traded a Durham Duplex Razor for a haircut. The barber wants a blade to make his Durham complete. I don't think he is going to use it- it is just for collector display. If he uses it, he says he can sharpen the blade. Thanks, Robert in Texas

Red face Durham Blades

No, I don't think a regular DE Blade will work. I have only seen photos of Durham Blades-they appear to be longer and have square holes in them for the detachable parts of the razor to sandwich the blade between. Durham bought out Wade & butcher in 1953 or so. I think. Presently there aren't any reasonable blades offered on Ebay. The barber could not find a blade from his Barber Supply House. Surely, for as many of those Durhams made, there must be a supplier or blades today. Somewhere. Those razors were well made. The ones I have seen have great plating and even have jimped tangs. They fit the hand well also. I was going to use the scales off the one I had, but they were too short for the orphan blade needing scales. I did get a good haircut for it. A good deal all around. I promised him a blade. Still looking and hoping.

I have no experience with this but I think I remember reading that some carpet blades fit in the Durham razors. I doubt Home Depot has a shaving section but you might have better luck in the carpet section!

Cool Durham Blade Source

Check out this website www.****eyed.com/razor/razor.html (what a male rooster is called in the place of the asterisks) and click on Razor Blade Gallery. Unusual warning message at the bottom.

It's obviously a shameless ploy to keep you around buying more razors, or a strange way to convince you to book a vacation on a cruise ship.

Definitely unusual.

I've also heard that some of the only current blades that fit are those carpet blades. I think someone over at B&B bought some and shaved with them in their Durham and said it was great! Don't take my word for it though, I'd look into it some more!

Sorry, I'm not taking on any more "projects". That means no scales, restoration, honing, you name it. Look for my custom razors in the future though!
