Cool smoothies

Hi everybody.

Here in Switzerland we are having a very warm and heavy summer since mid June (30-35 C or 86-95 F, with always more than 85% humidity). This is the time for one of the finest thing in life, SMOOTHIES.

I was wondering if anybody was willing to exchange their recipes... mine are from the wife, and are just delicious:
- apricots, bananas, milk
- strawberries, bananas, yoghurt
- strawberries, bananas, pineapple juice

How are yours?

I make them as part of my kid's daily breakfast:

Assorted frozen fruit:
Blueberries, peaches, mango, pineapple.
a bannana
some soy milk.
some whole milk yogurt
blend & enjoy

sometimes there's even leftovers for dear old dad!

My wife makes them for breakfast when we don't have time to sit at the table - it's usually a variation of the same basic recipe:

Frozen fruit (assorted)
1 frozen banana
Yogurt
Milk
Blend.

It's always yummy, and invariably fills me for the entire morning!

As the others have said, I usually make them as a meal or snack. A typical smoothie for me:

Makes 2 servings
1 cup Frozen Blueberries
1/2 Banana
10 oz. 1% Milk
2 Tbsp lowfat yogurt
2 tsp. Peanut Butter
2tsp. ground flax seed
1 scoop or so of whey protein powder
4-5 ice cubes
Blend

For a heartier version, I add a half a cup or so of cooked steel-cut oatmeal.

Bananas
Yogurt

sometimes flax oil

My wife has extreme food allergies and intolerances. As a result I have had to drastically alter my diet so as to avoid creating cooking smells that remind her of what she cannot have. That means most of my cooking is done either outside or at my lab. I make a breakfast smoothie every day in order to make a fast, non-odorous, breakfast that doesn't make her cry.

1/2 cup homemade yogurt
1/2 cup raw oatmeal
1 1/2 tsp flax
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/3 apple
1/3 banana
1/6 grapefruit
1 small wedge pineapple
8-10 blueberries
8-10 cranberries
8-10 grapes

I blend this in a Vitamix with no added liquid or ice.

All of the fruit except for the apples are frozen and I distribute all of it into bags once a week so it takes very little time to get it all into the blender. Others I have told about this recipe have doubts about the oatmeal but it is ground into imperceptible bits. An advantage of this recipe is that if you run out of something, it's not much of a noticeable loss because there are so many other things in it. That way if I have failed to have stocked up on something when it's in season and cheap, I can just leave it out till more becomes available.
