I Made Something Unrelated to Shaving!
I'm having another surgery tomorrow morning. This time on my right shoulder (of course I'm right handed) so I'll be in a sling, unable to use my right flipper for six weeks. I went into the shop this afternoon and made this dish:

It's made from a chunk of black cherry burl that I saved from the stove last winter. I love wood with character. I think I may give it to the surgeon who did all my abdominal operations. He did after all save my life. That should be worth a bit of firewood. Seeing how now I'm a piece of his work, he should have a piece of mine.

I hope you have a swift recovery Brad. All I'll add from my own experience is: I hope you don't drive a stick.

Thanks all. The surgery went well. The doc found my bicep tendon was ruptured, labrum torn from the humorous and three tears in the rotator cuff. I never do anything halfway. Now I do it all with only my left paw for six weeks.

I really dig that bowl, very cool.
Oh man, I hope you have some physical therapy lined up after your immobilization in that sling. Last thing you want is a frozen shoulder...

He should be pleased with that! Really nice work.
Do you have to be gentle when turning, due to the grain?

What a beautiful bowl, I've said it before and I'll say it again you are a fine and true craftsman.
So how did the audition for Frankenstein go? You know I'm only kidding Bradzilla! Speedy recovery mate.

I have to ask, did you shave your shoulder yourself?
The bowl looks gorgeous & would be fitting recompense for any surgeon. Especially one who has saved your most talented carcass. Molto belissimo signore.
It sounds like you have been in the wars, Brad. The injuries you describe could result from a car wreck, at least. All our hopes & prayers for a swift & easy recovery. Physical therapy is a bitch. Just so you know
