July 12th Event, help us break the record!
Our previous record for most users online was 681 on July 12th, 2007 at 9:51pm Eastern (GMT -4). This year we're going to try and break that, but we need your help!
We'll starting at 9:00 pm, and continue through until 10:00 pm, but we ask that everyone be on at 9:50 to set the record again!
July giveaways will be announced, as well as some additional razors given away in a raffle.
I'm especially proud to announce that Lynn will be doing the first SRP webcast as well. So we've got a lot going on that night. I'll be posting more details in this thread, so please keep an eye on it. Feel free to place a link in your signature to this post, so we can make sure and get the word out!
The webcast will start at 9:00, and will be viewable at ( http://www.straightrazorplace.com/in...pageid=webcast).
As soon as the webcast is over we'll open up a thread for the raffle. Your post number will be your raffle number. Then we'll draw and announce the winners at 10:00.
We're now staring to get some idea of what will be given away.. A razor like SOTD:Sunday May 4,2008 - Saturday May 10,2008 but with black scales.
Hawkeye-6/8s clauss razor
Gssixgun-11/16 framback reynolds razor
Mr Wizzard2004-Boker razor
Jimbo-Narutaki- Hone
Tony Miller-Artisan or Paddle Strop
And more coming, plus all of the July giveaways will be announced.. This one will be worth coming for!
(We sent out an email to all members about this, because we didn't want anyone to miss anything. We're not about to start spamming anyone on a regular basis).

What time will it be GMT? That might clear up some confusion.
And as im writing this, i have that sinking suspicion that it might be posted in your link......

Prestidigitation.
Perhaps the UTC would be most approprtiate. That way, our smarter friends who do not observe summer time won't be confused. After all, one is ALWAYS a set time ahead of or behind UTC, whereas GMT is moveable.
By the bye, I'll be there!

Sorry but GMT doesn't move ... never does - UTC is in an evolution of the GMT "standard" neither of which changes. In summer time I go from being in a GMT timezone to a GMT+1 timezone.

That will make 3:51 am here... Sorry but I think I'll be sleeping. Wish you all the best to set a new record!
P.S.
GMT: it will be 1:51 am if I am not mistaken (2:51 BST)
sorry Presently, but I don't think GMT is moveable; during summer England enters the BST - for British summer time to distinguish the summer time from the GMT. GMT is a term originally referring to mean solar time at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, London. It is also now often used to refer to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) when considered as a time zone (although - strictly speaking - UTC is an atomic time scale which only approximates GMT in the old sense.

If July 12th is my birthdate, do I automatically win something?
Also, where exactly on the website will all the real-time action be going on, the chatroom?

Keep an eye on this thread, I'll be updating the top post with details as we get them.
For now, just be on the site somewhere, and then I'll post a link shortly to the space where the webcast will take place..

Saucepan.
Quite right, quite right!
I seem to have muddled BST with GMT.
I do hate being a fool. On a hill. Sees the sun going down; and the eyes in his head see the world spinning round.
By the way, the prizes look very nice indeed! I'll try to make it at what ever time. And hopefully I won't say some thing incorrect again. I loathe being incorrect.

I was going to post a list of dates and times here, but decided it was too huge a task and you can easily find out what time to show up -
http://www.timeticker.com
Time Zone Converter
Firefox users can download the add-on Fox Clocks and display EST as well as their own timezone.
Hope that helps a little. And it will be 2:00am for the UK if people can work from there.
