First ever UK SRP meet!!
Saturday 20th September 1300 – 1700
Kings Heath Community Centre, Birmingham
All SRP members are cordially invited to this, the first, official SRP meet in the UK.
As we are limited to 40 places (hall size) a list has been started on the UK meet thread in the forum (Get togethers and meetings) showing commitment to attend. Please add your name to the list - this will also enable an email to be sent to you to carry along with any razors you may bring giving you good legal justification for so doing. After a week or so we may open it up to interested parties at Badger & Blade and Britishblades.com. The more the merrier!
During the day we hope to have a honing demonstration and small restoration workshop with plenty of opportunity to get hints and tips from other members on honing, stropping, maintaining, collecting and using razors and other shaving essentials. Bring along some of your favourite pieces to display and show off to others (just remember to pack them safely for the journey). A big part of the day will be putting faces to names and sharing experiences – everyone has something to offer!
Steve from Invisible Edge will have some Dovo stock for purchase on the day at a special price. He has also sponsored the event by paying the hall fee and by putting some time in to help gather some of the amazing raffle prizes on offer.
The Raffle (tickets only purchased at the venue) will be in aid of the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Attached are some of the prizes on offer.
* A specially commissioned Dovo with MOP inlay pieces on the tang and violet wood scales as used on their 'Prima Klang' razors.
* ‘Kent’ have donated a badger brush, soap bowl and soap and a tub of lather shave.
* Ardennes Belgian Blue Whetstone and Yellow Coticule boxed bout. (thanks Steve for organising all of the above prizes)
* Hand turned pens donated by Mark (Nurse42312).
* Mark (Majurey) has kindly put this cracker in the pot too:
New creation by Josh and Gary
It's a vintage blade by American Barber, Philadelphia, probably turn of the 20th century, i.e. over 100 years old, bought by Mark from Josh Earl and had new perspex scales made for it by GarythePenman in New Zealand.
* Attached are a few things I (Makar) am releasing from my clutch – a Chinese waterstone (12K), a Manchester razor hone – still in original wrapper, a Solingen snake razor and Le jaguar peachy celluloid number.
If you have anything to donate please bring it along on the day – it’s all for a good cause.
Evening entertainment for those staying over will be organised a bit closer to the time but will involve food and beer no doubt – but no razors!!
