Default David and Goliath, the razor matchup

I finished up these two razors last night and it was a David verses Goliath of a matchup. Talk about extremes in blade size.

One was a diminutive little pipe razor that could not be more than 3/8. The owner wanted it transplanted into a set of scales from an old crusty blade. I managed to get the scales off of the old blade without damaging them. I gave the scales a good cleaning and polished the silver bolsters. I gave the blade a light sanding and some time on the buffing wheel to polish it out nicely. The scales have a slight warp to them so I had to add a second washer to one side to shim the blade over but you still have to take care when closing the blade.

The other was a diamond backed 8/8 Henckels in epoxy resin finished lacewood. I used a lacewood wedge and gave the blade a polish. The shank on the Henckels is as big as the blade on the pipe razor. I just thought it was an interesting contrast, from the smallest to the largest of the blades.

I'm betting on Goliath for this re-match!

Both look very nice!

I like the lacewood! I am working on my first set of scales right now, and I chose lacewood for them. Very nice work!
