I knew my first set of scales wouldn't be as good as this forum is used to and I probably wouldn't be happy with the final product, but I decided to look at it as a learning tool.
The blade is from a broken handled Genco Army & Navy. The wood is lacewood with 6 coats of Truoil. The pins are end-annealed 15 guage brass finishing nails. The filagree are copper end caps from a local bead store.
The blade's not perfectly centered, (don't have a drill press

) but the edge dosen't hit and the spacer isn't as thin as it should be.
I'll probably use it for a while and then try again and improve.
