" I get by with a little help from my friends"
This Beau Brummel #35 6/8 spike has some history behind it here at SRP... I snagged another BB off e-bay at the same time that ByronTodd snagged this one, unfortunately mine was a wedge, and those of you that know me know that I don't use wedges.... So BT and I made a trade, he sent me this one, I sent him that one ..... About the same time as I got this blade, and got it polished up, I happened to achieve a special belt in the style of Kempo I teach (THREAD)..... It seemed that I should make a special set of scales to put on this razor to commemorate that event, so I started thinking of what woods to use to make a Red & White set of scales , after doing some thinking I came up with a better plan and PM'd Gary/Traveler and asked him if he could make the scales... He not only could, but did, and to top it off wouldn't even accept payment for them, so this razor is not only a commemoration of the belt test but it will always remind me that with a little help from my friends here at SRP I have this beautiful razor and all the memories that go along with it.... Thanks Guys !!!!!

Gary did me a similar favor! I got a lancet edge and asked Gary to make the scales! I realized after about a week that I hadn't paid him and he said that it was an honor for him to make the scales, and wouldn't accept a dime for the Lancet edge scales! He also sent out an extra set plus two more for the next Southern Ca. get together as a give away!
Gary (Traveller) is a great guy!

That's a nice looking razor and scales. The more interesting thing about it is the meaning that it holds to you. Things like this can not always be bought , so when you have friends help you out, well , it makes them even more awesome. Enjoy it.
P.S. Gary is an awesome guy who also did me a similar favor, and I would venture to say he has done the same for many more here,,,says alot about the man.

Hey Glen,
Nice to see you followed through on that idea of doing a commemorative red and white scaled razor. I am guessing we won't be seeing this one in BST anytime soon!

One of these days in your travels, a guy is going to show you a brand-new deck of cards on which the seal is not yet broken. Then this guy is going to offer to bet you that he can make the jack of spades jump out of this brand-new deck of cards and squirt cider in your ear. But, son, do not accept this bet, because as sure as you stand there, you're going to wind up with an ear full of cider.

Glen, I've gotta say- most razors you see with Gary's scales are large Sheffields (which you know I like), but this razor looks so much better with those scales on it, I am kind of shocked by how much I like it (not that I don't like the others)!
Congrats once again on the belt and also on this commemorative razor!

Sorry, I'm not taking on any more "projects". That means no scales, restoration, honing, you name it. Look for my custom razors in the future though!

Very nice scales, I really dig the milky swirl. I'm curious though: what are the 4 dots near the butt end of the scales? Do they have a significance?

There are 5 actually I asked Gary to incorporate the number 5 in there somehow and he did
The Shihan belt is only awarded to 5th degree Black belts or higher in our system...
Hence the 5 dots......
he has done this on other razors too, but thats the significance for me on this one
