Default S.B. Kahnweiler&Co New York in Brazil walnut

I pulled this blade out of my project box and decided to clean it up. It is a 5/8 spike S.B.Kahnweiler & Co, made in New York. I like old US made blades and have collected several. Every one of them shaves very good. Everyone talks about the Sheffield and solingen steel but I have had some nice blades from Chicago and NewYork.

The blade is etched TRUE-EDGE Trade Mark but is very light. The blade had some pitting and staining on it so I did some sanding. Unfortunately, to remove all the tarnish I would have to sand out the blade etching, so it stained. It just gives the blade character. It still got a light sanding and the full buffing wheel treatment to shine it all up nicely.

I decided to use a set of Ipe (Brazilian walnut) finished in a high gloss epoxy resin. To contrast the dark grained wood I used a cherry wood edge. I still need to hone the blade and try it out. The light staining on the blade does not bother me
