Default 8/8 Friodur Gabon Ebony Re-scale

This one was done for one one my friends here on SRP a Spanish Point Frodur 8/8 re-sacled in Gabon Ebony with solid brass hardware and vintage style pinning with a solid brass center pin....
I tried to use the Spanish point on the razor as a design guide for the scales themselves ..... It will be flying home to NY in the morning.....

Very nice. I like the double pins an the toe end and how the scales accent the Spanish point. Great work.

One of these days in your travels, a guy is going to show you a brand-new deck of cards on which the seal is not yet broken. Then this guy is going to offer to bet you that he can make the jack of spades jump out of this brand-new deck of cards and squirt cider in your ear. But, son, do not accept this bet, because as sure as you stand there, you're going to wind up with an ear full of cider.

Good show!
I love gaboon ebony.

Do you find it smells vaguely like walnut when you work/sand it?

Great job, Glen - the pinning looks great and I really like the look of the butt end - a nice twist on what is quickly becoming the "classic re-scale shape." The center pin also adds a ton of class!

Way to go!

Mark

Thank you for all the kind comments, I'll try and answer some of the questions. The design was a total freehand, the blade came to me with out factory scales, so I just went with what I saw in my mind.... I love the Gabon/ Gaboon Ebony to work with also Dan, but I didn't notice the walnutty smell The finish is just a simple wipe on Poly, it's the prep that makes the difference, the wood is glass, and brown paper bag burnished, before the Poly goes on, then rubbed after each of the first 3 coats, then about another 10 very thin coats go on after that.....

Ahh, yes, the old burnishing trick, eh Glen? I've got a W&B coming my way tonight, so I figure I'll give it a go with the wipe-on poly when I get around to making some scales...I just might be knocking on you PM door for some tricks though, if you don't mind!

Anytime Mark, I have a couple of W&B's that are knocking on the restore door, that I am seriously thinking of using some of the Brown Ebony on... We shall see
