Default Le Grelot in Carbon Fiber

Here is a Le Grelot in Carbon Fiber done up for a member here. The wedge is actually G10 Micarta which offers a slight contrast. Pictures really say it all! I had a hell of a time centering the blade! The grind on this razor was waaaaay off. I mean the scales were perfect in terms of anything which would make a razor close off-center and I tried everything to help it. No dice. So finally I resorted to reshaping the inside of one scale to help the closing angle which finally did the trick (not without much frustration in itself). It actually really bugs me although I did a decent job of hiding the asymmetrical wear on the two scale sides. I'm just a perfectionist like that. Wonder if a lot of these Le Grelots are off like that? I'd rather never rescale another lol. Anyway it turned out really well. The last pic is in there just to show how it shines in natural sunlight. Comments and criticism are always welcome. Enjoy!

Sorry, I'm not taking on any more "projects". That means no scales, restoration, honing, you name it. Look for my custom razors in the future though!

Stunningly beautiful.

JFTR, mine is perfectly centred and closes well. But I just realised that its scale need to go. Badly.

Very nice job! I remember... we talked about this one in the chat a few days ago... you did a very good job.
Btw I just checked my Le Grelot (I have the "same" but with it's original plastic scales) and the blade is well centered and it closes perfectly. Too bad you had to go through this, but the result is amazing!

[quote=Philadelph;241541Wonder if a lot of these Le Grelots are off like that?[/quote]

Which Grelot is this?, same as sold by rasurpur, or the B&B?
Mine B&B have an strange pivotpin, and by the pictures many other have taken of theirs, they are the same, maybe they had to put the pivot-pin in crocked to make it align in the scales?

Anyway, my Grelot is with an surgeon now, awaiting better looks

Nice, I like the grind of these blades. I'm beginning to find that a 1/2 hollow blade is best suited for my beard. Been using Full Hollows for years too :S
