The custom made scales are made of Bocoto wood.
Beautiful preserved etching on the blade.
I believe this razor to be close to a 100 years old.
Total weight: 2.4 oz
Total blade length: 5.5 inches
Total blade's edge: 2.75 inches
Total length open: 9.50 inches
Total blade's width 7/8 - French point.

Friedmann & Louterjung's was a trade mark of an American razor, hardware, cutlery and manufacturer company, the Electric Cutlery Company, located in Newark, NJ. The company was established circa 1896-1898. They produced the knives used in the Klondike Gold Rush. The Electric Co. produced razors between 1890 and 1920's.

Yep, it was a complete restore. The scales were ruined and the blade needed some sanding. I couldn't sand the etching so I had to be really careful cleaning as much as possible. It does shave like a dream. The pictures don't even do it justice and Glen must know how beautiful it is to work and see a nicely worked bocote wood (and I'm sure the rest of the gang too

).

That razor looks great! The wood and blade work well together. Bocote is now on the list!

I take it those are one piece scales. I've read some threads on how to do them, but every input helps. How hard were they to do? What did you use to rip the slot? In any case, it 's very nice work!!
