I'm interested, but not in Boston proper- too much hassle to get in town, especially into Cambridge.
I'd go to Providence- it's further but faster. Where are we all from? How about a central location then?
I'm in Marlboro/Hudson (think 495/290/85/62 intersection)- My local gun club rents a hall I could look into the costs if the location is of interest. It would definitely be large enough for us with tables.

That sounds like it could definitely work.

Hey-
Sounds good to me. Gun clubs generally aren't uptight about loud noises...

So as of right now, we got a bunch of people. If Justme finds a place, cool. I'll in the mean time look into places near Providence to see how much/when etc. I think it will fall together that way if people just start checking out locations themselves (without booking) then get back to everyone here.

What's the date we're looking at? I'm
assuming March 15th, a Saturday,
would be ideal. The 16th is too close to
St. Patrick's day and a lot of places
could be holding something in their halls
that day, aside of maybe the aforementioned
gun club.

OK, here's the info: (and yes, I'm a member)
Riverside Gun Club Function Hall - Available 7 days a week until midnight
- Seating for 150 people, capacity of 180
- Rental includes bartender and cleanup
- 30'X70' dance floor
- Bandstand
- Caterer and DJ available or supply your own
- Rental for 5 hours
- Non-member rental fee $300.00
- Club members rental fee $250.00
Getting the space should not be a problem if it is decided we want that. I think it can be had for less minus the bartender and self cleaning- gotta call them about that.
I'll check the local Moose hall too (smaller location but just down the street)

Looks cool. I just think it could be cheaper. I personally don't drink, so the bartender won't help me. If the price can't come down, I was thinking of some kind of less "frills" kind of place (dance floor, bandstand!). Either way, things are getting there it looks like.

I called a Legion Post in Grafton, about a mile and a half
from the Mass Pike exit in Worcester. It's $150 for
the hall and $35 extra if we want a bartender. It would
be for March 16th and it's for five hours. They open
at noon. I imagine we would have to move quickly seeing
it is St. Patrick's day weekend. The 15th is booked for
a corned beef dinner.

I'm not dedicated to the st pattys day weekend idea. I mean, any weekend could theoretically work. Just saying... That sounds better though.

That was the weekend that was thrown around
originally. I'm open to anything though.
Hopefully others can chime in to their availability
so we can get something convenient to all.

Agreed- I think we can pass on a bartender.
Mind you the Dance floor and Band Stand are not necessarily such a big deal- the dance floor is just a section of the floor that is wood grain and the band stand is a small slightly raised stage at one end. Not nearly as glamorous as they sound. I'm going to try getting a call in to them tomorrow and see what I can work out for a better price (I've paid enough in dues already ) My wife's bridal shower was held there and I think we got the hall for a fair amount less.
Grafton sounds reasonable tho...
still trying to find the google map... for locations of us... And just about any weekend is good for me with the exception of father's day weekend which I'll be away on business.

That should be right by Howard S. ("The hone guy").
I'm sure with some notice he could swing by and show us some of those nice hones he sells!!

It appears interest in this has dwindled.
Just wondering what's going on with it?

Beats me. Last I heard, that spot in Grafton was mentioned. If it's not near me, I'm not going to be the one organizing. So either someone else has to pick it up and collect people's contact info, find a spot, choose a date that is good for everyone, then book it or it will keep going like this. Last I checked we had like 5-7 people interested. Is this still the case?

Ok, who's in? I don't mind booking
the place, I just need to know
people are interested and what
weekend is good for them. As I
mentioned, the 16th of March
was the date I got from the Legion
Post as the 15th was already
booked. Let me know and I'll
get working on it.
