N.E. Oklahoma Get-together part deaux
Have been talking to Str8razor and Hoglahoo and we think it's about time to have a second N.E.OK get together.
What does everyone else think about us Okies (we'd welcome the Arkansans, Texans and Missouri folks too) getting together around the end of August or the first part of September?

There are a couple of other Okies that have joined here recently.
I'm for another get-together, but setting aside a scheduled day or two is not a strong possibility for me at least for another week. I'll be able to look at a calendar at that point, and can start greasing up my wagon wheels

Free time is a pretty rare commodity, even with a couple of weeks notice. Then there's the juggling of who's on-call. I'll have to play it completely by ear to see if I'll be able to make it or not.

Howdy Neighbors,
That'd be cool. I'm not much for making plans, but if it should pan out I might be able to run down there.

Sounds super guys maybe I will get to meet Kyle instead of just talking to him. Maybe we could centralize the location somewhere. I am pretty much free except for the next week.

I nominate Stillwater- it's about an hour from everyone
I'm really not sure. From now until mid September is a little hazy on the calendar

You know me, my calendar is always open , with the exception of an occasional Dr's appointment. Actually, Stillwater is 2 hours from me lol. How about Tulsa?

time and location
Hello again gentlemen,
I'm able to set aside any weekend from Sept 27th onward as long as we can decide a week or so ahead of time. Any location is fine with me, and that will probably depend on the locations of those who know they can make it.
I have a couple of local converts who may be interested in joining us as well. I'm looking to get rid of and/or trade several razors, a strap, and a hone, and have some soap and cream samples that I haven't touched. If you know of a good venue, share
PS I am willing to open my home, but I will need to let my wife know ahead of time so she isn't completely surprised

Sounds good to me. At the moment between health restrictions and taking care of Mom it's hard for me to commit to anything. Whenever it's scheduled, I'll do my best to be there, but no promises.

My brother says he thinks there is a very good chance we could use his place in Stillwater. It's an old 20 room 2 story from the 1920's I think on the OSU campus. It's basically a guy dorm, but there are a couple of large living areas that would be easy to use

My position is the same as before; I just don't know what's going to happen. My job is really kicking off that could tie up a saturday any minute.
I'd love to meet you guys in person. If it works out I'd be glad to give a ride or chip in for gas if passengerized from OKC, buy the first round or whatever. All I can say for sure is I'll make an effort to show up!

Waiting to see what happens with the weather. I'm part of the hurricane response team this year, so I may be deployed at any time. I know Saturday 9/27 is out, as is Saturday 10/25.

I would be in to meet up, especially if I might get to see some nice razors. I need to get my vintage one restored because one of the scales is broken. It would still have to depend on the time though because I do have another hobby that takes up a lot of time. Quick question why not meet up at a barber that offer straight shaves? There got to be some here in Oklahoma. I have heard that there is one in Tulsa but have not been there and am not sure where it is at. Just a thought.

Ulf I have only called Dewey the Barber who has been in town for several decades. He told me he didn't know of any that did, and I never pursued it. It would be a great experience though in my opinion anyway! I'll make a point to call a few numbers in the phone book and ask around.
I know Tony and Bill have some decent razors. I don't think I have any nice ones, but maybe a variety

I know of a couple of shops near my house that offer straight shaves. Barber Shop Corner on N. May for $15. They have a display case that has a bunch of straight razors & old shaving paraphernalia. They also sell brushes & soaps, but no razors. I believe shaves are with disposable shavettes.

That is correct Kyle. That guy gave me the most attentive, exacting haircut I've had in years. I forgot his name, and so far I've never made it back for a shave. Anyway i was really impressed with his self motivated perfectionism, as I was just a stranger with a vague description of what i wanted.

Which guy was it?
Harold is the guy nearest the door. Brian is the younger guy next to him with a lot of tattoos, one of which looks like a skeletonized lizard on his forearm. There was a new kid in the 3rd slot. There used to be an old man in the 4th chair, but I haven't seen him in a while. I forget the guy on the far end's name.
