Any Western NYers? Buffalo? Rochester?
Hey all you Western NYers! Buffalonians, Rochesterites, everyone inbetween and you folks across just across the border!
Seems like everyone else has a regional group, and it'd be nice to gather on a chilly winter day in someone's workshop for the warmth of fellowship, swap stories, show off our gear, and maybe pick up some honing or restoration tips...
Whaddya say?

I'm in if we can do it on a Saturday when I don't have the kids, every other weekend like 10/11, 10/28 and so on.

I'm here representing Rochester. I'd absoloutly be up for a Western NY gathering. Maybe we could even coax some of the closer Canadians into the country.
Joe and I were planning on getting together regardless, but it would be great to get more members involded.
Any time Friday afternoon through early Sunday evening works. If we meet in Rochester, there's a great dive bar that I frequent that might make a good venue (or at least somewhere to hang out if/when we put the razors away).

Get together
If there are enough people interested my lady friend Karen said she would help organize this. She has had some luck in the past putting together some small/medium gatherings. If we want to do any str8 show and tell then we would need to do it someplace where that would be allowed. I guess we would have to do this before Thanksgiving or after New Year. Possibly someplace along the Thruway route so it would be convenient access for everyone.

I'm in northern New Jersey, but could easily be coaxed into making the trip if it were on a Sunday. If it all works out, maybe I can represent N.J.

MIke I'll keep you in mind if this comes together. If we don't have more than a 1/2 dozen people interested, I may just have this at my house. I don't have a shop, but we can at least share experiences.

Cool, this looks like it might come together, even if just a bunch of guys with their razors and such.
I'm happy to host if Buffalo is most central (although it seems like Rochester may be more so), although I have an apartment (and no cool workshop to show off!)

Cassady, I just have the island in my kitchen to work on when Karen isn't baking. If this is just going to be an informal thing we can do it the weekend of October 25/26 or Nov 8/9 whatever works best for everyone here.

I am east of Rochester about 15 or 20 miles and a mile or less south of route 104, so I am closer to Rochester.

Thanks Joe, for summoning me to this thread.
I'm only 2-3 hours away, so I'll most certainly join you if I can find the time. I'm subscribing to this thread so that I can keep updated.

Get together is on
I verified everything with my lady friend Karen and it looks like Sunday Nov 9th is going to be the day. I would say around 11am until whenever. Wives and significant others are welcome. I would just ask that everyone let me know if you are coming and how many (per Karen's orders) so she can plan appropriately.
PM me for directions please.
Look forward to seeing everyone.
Joe

Bring what ever you like, things you would like to share, show or have questions about. Hones would be nice to try if you have some I/we don't have, straight to see and maybe try, strops... and so on. If WIlliamson is the most central to everyone let me know. If there will be more than several I can reserve a building from one of the groups I belong to. If you have a preference to drinks you should bring your own bottle(s). If someone needs to spend the night I will reccomend a place to stay, just let me know. If Williamson is not the best place to meet that's fine with me also. Karen posted a date best for us and it's getting close so let's all chime in to finalize date and location. Hope to see all of you soon!

Williamson would be fine for me, I don't mind a bit of a drive. Shall we take inventory of where everyone is?
I'm in Rochester.
Cassady is in Buffalo (right?)
Joe is in Williamson
Gugi is around abouts Ithica (I think that's what Joe said)
Mike is in NJ, and might be able to come (Could you come on a Sat?)
Anyone else planning on coming? If not, Rochester or Williamson seem equally central. I would be happy to host at my apartment (what do you think, Joe, would we all fit?), and Joe has also voulenteered to host.
Maybe we should just call it Williamson so we can set up a medium sized venue and not have to worry about size issues.
I just looked an the NC meet pics. If people are comfortable meeting/looking at gear in a restaurant setting, The Old Toad in Rochester has a separate room that can easily accommodate those who have expressed interest thus far. I'm pretty sure the room can be reserved. You can see it in pictures 5-7 here http://www.theoldtoad.com/gallery_toad.html

Holli, the restaurant setting would be good if we had more people coming. At this point with only 3-4 people coming I thing my house will do fine. Karen is planning on making some chii and homemade bread unless there are some people who don't like chili. Of course if the weather is nice I might do something on the grill.
If there are any special likes/dislikes or allergies let me know so we can work with or around them as the case may be.
Joe

Your place sounds good to me. I'll see if I can find a growler of that black lagar it was telling you about.
