Hi Tom, welcome to Diabolics. I'm sure if you get stuck with your course there is a wealth of experience you can draw from here. Any questions just let us know.

    Hello
I wish everone well. Although I have a couple of old staight razors I can't call myself a "straight shaver" yet. I'm also, new to Diabetetes. Presently enrolleded in the Saint Francis (Tulsa) course on Diabetes. I don"t have much to say about either now but will check back when I learn a little more.

Thanks Steve, yep, the lows can be dangerous. The only way in which they are better is in the fact that they don't cause my neuropathy to flair up. Seems when my sugar is high, my legs ache, which isn't fun at all.

    Freebird,
Actually, the lows are not good at all. The highs only affect us in the long haul, so at our age (you said what?) it doesn't matter that much. Yes, if you are very young, high B/S will have an affect. But the lows can really be dangerous at any age.

Take care (and I mean that literally),

    Steve

been having a bunch of lows lately. 4 in the last 2 days, I guess they're better than the highs, but they still stink.

    Okay, rtaylor61:

A couple of questions? If you take Humalog and Lantus, why do you call yourself type II?

What is the reason for taking Lantus at night? I gotta know.......

I'm type II, diagnosed in 1997. I've been on Humalog for 7 years and Lantus for 4...or there abouts. This is a disease you can control, but you have to be dedicated. I'm dedicated to living as long as possible!

Zep...you take Lantus in the morning? Lantus is a bedtime insulin.

Saw my Endo yesterday. He was quite impressed with my tightly curled mustache, fedora and straight razor shave. He was also rather impressed that despite all of my bouncing blood sugars my A1C was 6.3 up from 5.7.
