Default Balsa wood/CrOx...

Hi guys, would taping the spine be necessary if using CrOx on balsa wood? From what I've read, it doesn't seem so...input and suggestions? Thanks.

I don't keep the tape on for the CroOx, newspaper, or regular stropping

I have done it both ways and I don't think it matters.

If you are honing with one layer of tape on your hones, i would keep it on with my balsa hone. If you are using strop coated with cro.ox i would take it of. Thats how i would do it. You can hone with out tape , then add a layer of tape to your razor, then finish on balsa, results are good, rayman recomends this process. Try it and see. with out tape is normally the way.

I do the same. Hone with tape and use it on the balsa strop. Remove tape for hanging strop. I've never tried adding another layer before the balsa strop though. Sounds like a good idea.
