First Shave, Chick-Style
Razor: 9/16 Wapi
Strop: RupRazor Filly
Soap: Bear Haven Peach Vanilla Shaving Soap
Brush: cheap boar bristle from Walgreens
Aftershave: Bear Haven Unscented Winter Aftershave Balm
First leg: ouch. It took me a while to get the angle right, and I cut myself three or four times in the process. It wasn't a terribly close shave, nor a comfortable one, but it was part of the learning process. I didn't shave right out of the shower or do any other prep (aside from soaking the brush in hot water before making the lather), which was a mistake... lesson learned.
Second leg: less ouch. My angle was better, and I didn't cut myself. The ankle and knee were a little tricky... I need to stretch the skin more than I would with my disposable razor.
Lessons: stretch the skin, shave right after showering, and get the angle right.
I like the weight and balance of the Wapi, but I'd definitely like to play with something a little more delicate. Mama Bear's soap is wonderful, as is her aftershave balm... I think I'll be ordering more balm in a custom scent pretty soon.

I should imagine its a little tough to shave one's legs. Then again I'm not a girl. Slow and easy and it will come to you. Id just sit in the tub and do it.

I think legs are probably easier to shave than faces, actually. And I wouldn't sit in the tub... too hard for my bony butt.

Hi Lilith glad to see you accomplished a shave on your legs. You may know this but when you stretch the skin the idea is to pull the hair straight up so the razor can better cut the hair. If you can imagine the hair laying down on your legs pointing toward your feet you put your hand on the skin above the hair and stretch the skin toward your knee, if you are at a spot lower than your knee, this will tend to straighten the hair outward where the razor can cut it better. Maybe this will help....................or not.

Great job, LilithParker! I have found the legs shape up nicely, but I've found other bodily hair (PCR) is going to take a little more practice to come out quite as smooth. I really need to get some of that soap from Mama Bear. It sounds just delightful! Congrats to you!

I hope she stropped on a strop!
Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
That said, I'm curious, too... my sweetie uses a DE, but since she's so fascinated by straights, I'd like to be as armed as possible with information for when she asks if she can borrow either my razor or my skill.

My lady asked me too a long time ago, but Ive been putting it off because she seems to be very sensitive there as far as shaving goes (can barely handle a DE) and I really don't want to hurt her.

No, I didn't strop between legs, but I think I will next time just to see if the hair really is chewing up the edge that badly.

Thanks, Viola! You really do need to get some of Mama Bear's soap. As for PCR shaving, I want to make sure I've got basic technique down before I get into more complicated terrain. Give me a few weeks. I just wish I had someone else to try it out on like you do.

When I shaved my wifes legs I didn't have too much trouble with the ankles but I found going across the knee worked better - I don't know what your legs, more specifically your knees, look like but the horizontal creases on the knee make shaving them tricky. Even when well stretched there is some residual ridges that catch the blade if it is moving perpendicular to them.

I completely understand! I'd rather nick my legs than other places. I did find it easier to shave above my own pubic bone rather than someone elses... maybe because I'm used to shaving myself with a disposable? Good luck and keep it up!

Lilith...you're much braver than I am. As a cyclist, I shave my legs in the summer months....it just looks better and I'm confident in my manhood.
I use a DE for this....but obviously you would have years of experience in leg shaving as compared to me.
Keep up the good work!

I am so terrified of this. I got a straight from Mike Ratcliff and my boyfriend has given me the OK to practise on him.. but I have never shaved a man before with anything but a pink bic.. Jake shaves his head too.. so I am putting off my trial.
I should practise on me first I guess.. but am scared. I think you ladies are AMAZING!
