As I was writing this ad, I thought since I'm more asking for advice I should probably post this here. If it should be moved to the classifieds, let me know.


I'm getting my hones today. I suppose I should have started this ad quite some time ago. I know there are blades at a local junk shop for about $10. I'm torn between getting a DA on e-bay for $15, or a NOS Wapi on e-bay for about $20, or try to find a junk lot on e-bay. If there are those of you that have some blades that aren't shave ready that need hone work that you won't have time to work on, I'd be interested in practicing on them. After placing the orders for the hones, I'm not so sure I want to use my kenrup wapi on the stone, no matter how gentle I might be. I'm a bit leary to get a lot on e-bay, since I have no idea yet about quality.

Or, maybe you'll tell me I should just get the $10 blades locally.

I generally just look for the flattest blades I can find. Even NOS wapis and new DA's can have slight warps and other honing challenges...

The Wapi would be my first choice as you already have one and would know exactly what the shave should feel like.
