Looks good to me - don't see anything worrysome, but you never know until you hone it.

First, welcome to the forum!!!
Looks like it is very recoverable. Try some metal polish first to see how it reacts. If you are not happy with the results, then you may want to do a little sanding on the blade. Looks like it will sharpen up fine. Even tho you have quite a bit of experience with knives, I would send this out to a honemeister to get your first blade in good shape. It will give you a good reference for the future. Check the vendors forum and you could have the vendor do the blade cleanup as well as the honing.
Congratulations on a nice acquisition!

That's funny, I actually had a snipe ready on this, but I pulled it off yesterday as I scored a Le Grelot earlier and figured I'm sniping on too many frenchies lately...
Good catch, I hope it turns out nice, let us see some more detailed photos later, will you?

It obviously was meant to be then
I will post pictures when it arrives. I am going to try the suggestions posted to clean it, and see whether there are Dutch honemeisters around here (I'm from The Netherlands).

That looks like a beautiful razor. I got sniped on one yesterday, but not this one.

swifty,
There are two members from the Netherlands who come immediately to mind: Kees and LXemergency, one of whom even made a video on honing a razor. They may catch this and respond, otherwise check the member list and send one or both a personal message to see what they may be able to recommend.
good find, good luck,
